Xbox Acquisition |OT5| Talking Exclusively About Xbox Acquisitions

While talent is as it’s highest demand I couldn’t disagree more.

None of Ubisoft’s IPs address the gaps in gamepass.

MS would be better served by bringing Ubi + into gamepass.

You’re right, I don’t think Ubisoft REALLY adds anything Microsoft doesn’t already have and so there are better acquisitions from the perspective of lineup diversity. I do think Ubisoft has other benefits which make them interesting though, namely the massive support structure. As for Ubi+, I think getting that on gamepass would be very unlikely, it’s not like EA Play where it’s older games once the bulk of the sales are done it’s day one releases as well. That would cost an absolute boatload, money I think Microsoft would far rather spend on developing their own games.

Ubisoft directly addresses MS lack of third person narrative driven action adventure games

wait a minute guys,

Ubisoft to be acquired by Microsoft confirmed??? (I genuinely wonder how @Shpeshal_Nick would feel if all 4 were ultimately bought by Microsoft)

Personally for me Take Two would be better than Ubisoft and the same with EA.

EA is the best get out of the 3 in my opinion but Take Two is my favourite out of the 3

TakeTwo is my least favourite.

I like Red Dead but GTA doesn’t interest me. 2K Sports and WWE doesn’t interest me either and they would have to stay multi-platform due to licensing.

I think the absolute biggest move that Xbox could do to help Game Pass is Day 1 sports games. For sports fans, getting them 6 month after the fact isn’t going to get it done.

For the casual market, being able to stream an NFL or NBA (or other sport) game direct to their TV would be absolutely huge.

I don’t think EA is an acquisition option though, so they should look to either bump up that partnership or start acquiring studios to build their own sports games like how it was back in the day.

why? any public company has their price and I think EA is a logical purchase for Microsoft. EA and MS have been a closely related since xbox hit the scene

You already know where I stand :stuck_out_tongue:

either way, I agree, getting the sports games day 1 would be massive W…do EA ones go day 1 because I know sony ones do, I believe the only ones that don’t come are take two ones

EA Play gets the sports games like 6 months late… which for many sports is the tail end of the season.

ah, yeah Microsoft should try to get Take Two’s sports games in the service and at least fifa (or whatever that will be rebranded to) and madden day 1 into the service

The gaps Phil has mentioned is co-op and family games. Ubiso.ft has plenty of co-op, and family IPs such as Rayman and Rabbids.

Nah. EA is too much into licensed games - from sports (FIFA, NFL) to racing (WRC, F1). Some separate studios might be an interesting acquisition - but the whole EA? No. Even Bioware now in decline and if Dragon Age or Mass Effect flops (or being a junk), I can see them dying.

It is actually hilarious if you think about it - ATVI had such big revenue margins, had such a huge market cap and sales despite not having a single licensed game :joy:

I believe that a lot of sports games will pivot to F2P model. EA reported last year that they had 70% of profit from MTX rather than sales. So I imagine the idea to make the game F2P to bring more players and increase MTX revenue will be popular.

You can disagree all you want, but ultimately businesses value income. Having 20,000 people on staff and only have around 150 million in yearly income is horrible.

Hmmm… what would the monetization be? Not like cosmetics play a big role when they are wearing uniforms.

Modern sports games are already close to F2P with commercials, Diamond Family, Ultimate Team etc.

Guess you can tell I haven’t played many sports games in a while haha
