cool…what are either of those
Merger refers to the consolidation of two or more companies to form an all-new entity with a new name. It assists companies in uniting their strengths, resources, and weaknesses. Merger leads to a reduction in trade barriers and competition.
An acquisition is the purchase of an entity by another entity. This can be done either by acquiring ownership over 51% of its share capital or by taking over the company’s assets. The acquiring company is more influential in structure, operations, and size than the target company.
Basically a merger if when you start to live together with somebody in the same room, while an acquisition is when you begin to rent the room to somebody else (but you don’t live there)
Voltron vs The Borg
Lolz. I think I could have more fun with coming up with cultural references than actual definitions.
Oh! Voltron is a megazord basically. Did not know.
Microsoft may as well go for Netflix and Spotify and be done with it ![]()
Netflix is too expensive. It is in 200b market cap while Paramount is around 20-30b.
Now that I think about PS+ tiers & Anime streaming might be an interesting proposition for 20$ from Sony (their movie output is not there, music is alos non-existent (despite being the biggest music publisher!)). Somewhere in the future.
I was being sarcastic but Netflix is a 154b market cap (an acquisition will probably be over 220b with a premium)
.
Would make them the market leader overnight though, same with Spotify.
Spotify is ‘only’ 26B.
Voltron is a 1984 adaptation from a 1981 series. Power Rangers is a 1993 adaptation from a 1975 series and its 1992 revision.
I did not watch Voltron and I watched Power Rangers (though I know that Power Rangers are coming from Super Sentai series)
To continue on the Merger vs Acquisition references:
Devastator of The Constructicons vs The Thing
Hhehe thats a good one.
well than I doubt a merger between EA and disney then. The disney name feels to iconic to change and it changing to disney arts or electronic disney may affect that. A merger with fox felt more realistic
Hoeg has explained this pretty well in some of his videos. The way MS does this is a reverse triangle merger.
There are basically three entities:
- Microsoft
- Company Being Acquired (in this case Activision Blizzard King)
- Third new company created by Microsoft
The company being acquired is merged with the third company, in the case of Bethesda this company was called Vault, and the new resultant company post merger is a company with its original name but is now a wholly owned subsidiary of Microsoft.
It was still acquired, just not assimilated with the host.
VAULT
I assume a Microsoft and Paramount future may be a bit hard considering the future launch of Sky Showtime.

Love DBZ so that was a good comparison!!
Microsoft could acquire the animation studio that was let go by Netflix.
Holy shit, they had a Bone series in the works? Fuck Netflix to their core.
I agree. No wonder they are losing subscribers. But it would be awesome to see Microsoft hire the people who were let go and see Microsoft have their own animation studio. And perhaps Microsoft could also get the rights for the Bone series as well and create a video game based off of it.
