No one was playing amiibo festival or the other mobile ones, last one prior actually played was New Leaf in 2012. Crash and Spyro also have popular games more recently than that
didn’t crash 4 flop…like I heard its sales weren’t good
Crash is multi-platform and doesn’t sell half as well.
The best selling Crash game was 2 with 7.5 million copies.
** EDIT the trilogy remaster sold 10 million **
New Horizons sold 37.6 million. New Leaf sold 12.9 million. Wild World sold 11.7 million.
Even Happy Home Designer sold 3 million copies which compared to Crash 4 which sold under a million is not comparable.
Minecraft an MS owned IP has been a much bigger E-rated franchise than Mario in recent years. Over 600 million players. Also i agree acquiring TT games would be huge.
Not sure. Can’t find sales figures, but N Sane Trilogy sold over 10 million.
Yeah I went back and edited before you replied, technically that’s a re-release but still…
Yeah saw that I deleted my post response
Either way, even if Xbox doesn’t exactly pull even with Nintendo, I do believe they’d have the more interesting offering to parents with gamepass compared to Nintendos strategy. They need more family content to make it there though.
I agree they are on there way, interestingly I went for a walk with my cousin and his kid today who is obsessed with Minecraft and Sonic (he went to see Sonic 2 at the cinema recently ).
If Xbox got SEGA, Sonic would easily be their equivalent of Mario in terms of both nostalgia and popularity. They could easily spin out the other characters like Amy, Knuckles and Tails etc into different games.
They could also introduce some of their older IP like Banjo to introduce them to new audiences.
if we are talking in the game pass perspective I agree, if Microsoft hypothetically did pick up SEGA and TT games they would have quite a bit of veriety of bring back older franchises like panzer dragoon wouldn’t be as risky as the parents wouldn’t have to buy the game, just have a sub to game pass, but if we are talking just in terms of their line up…its debatable but ultimately its an opinion thing not a definitive thing here
I think the issue with Minecraft is that it’s not really associated with the Xbox brand.
When you think of Mario you also think of all the other Nintendo properties, also it’s closed to that platform which in turn instills that brand recognition into you (and your children) without even knowing.
I would be down for the YS series making its name know outside origins within the Xbox platform. But do you all think it
s actually a possibility or not? I think Ni No Kuni is likely alongside Persona, Athelier, Disgea, Digimon and the Mana series.
Also, since Spike Chunsoft released a plethora of games for the last few months over to Xbox, am willing to bet that Koei Tecmo would be next, who could bring more games towards Gamepass, either in the form of all the dead or alive series, Ninja gaiden or a surprise announcement of a previous Playstation Exclusive coming to the platform itself.
What previous game franchise do you guys think will arrive to Xbox this year?
Am willing to think that we might get Danganronpa 2 and 3 on Gamepass eventually if the ratings and chatter are anything to go by for Trigger Happy Havoc.
I’ve noticed Sonic is indeed huge with kids again. Everyone I work with is taking their kids to the Sonic movie and talking how they’re obsessed with Sonic. I honestly didn’t realize it was like that.
It will be Persona. Credible leaker on Resetera already said Persona 3 and 4 are on the way (nothing said about 5). Just a matter of when.
Digimon’s newest game is coming to Xbox. If you meant the older ones, well I have something to say about that and Ni no Kuni… When Bandai Namco does “old” ports to Switch (of which they’ve done for Digimon and Ni no Kuni for Switch), they don’t also do one for Xbox. Recently was a .hack port for Switch, no Xbox. I’d like to see MS change this.
If Disgaea is a possibility then so is Ys as NISA publishes both. That said NISA basically doesn’t exist on Xbox. All they’ve done is publish some Kickstarter games and put Disgaea 4 PC on PC Game Pass. They’re also publishing some Indonesian game on Xbox soon. But for their “main” published stuff? Nothing.
There was a small period last year where Square was doing all kinds of old Japanese ports for Game Pass but those seemed to have stopped. I think Mana missed the boat.
Atelier? Don’t know. Leaning towards unlikely. Gust has never made an Xbox game in their life at this point. Yes they’re under Koei Tecmo but that doesn’t seem to matter. Koei Tecmo’s Xbox support is just “decent”. All the major games come, but the middle stuff is hit or miss. Xbox doesn’t get Nobunaga’s Ambition, Gust games, or Romance of the Three Kingdoms (Xbox One got some early on, not anymore. Doesn’t bother me personally because I hate Grand Strategy).
I assume you’re talking about Nioh when you mention a Koei Tecmo PS exclusive (it’s the only series that fits the bill as otherwise Koei is all in on Switch). That will most likely never happen for this reason
Sony publishes it Worldwide, and we all know how nasty Sony contracts can get. There is most likely a clause in there that says “You can never bring this to another console. Ever.”
So for now my answer to what game franchise will come to Xbox this year is Persona.
The funny part of that is clauses like that ensure the game will never really gain steam and become a massively popular title. Playstation is essentially ensuring success of IP that are associated with them from 3rd party devs don’t experience success.
I’d like to see what TT Games could do outside of Lego, if MS was to get all of WB’s game studios. I think there would be great potential for a new IP under TT Games or even bring back old Rareware games, like Jet Force Gemini, Blast Corps or Kameo.
IMO, if they were smart Microsoft would go after studios that make kids games. TT games would be one, but include playful, Playtonic, moon studios, and others. If they can get one E rated game out a year i think they have potential to take back a bit of market share from Nintendo.
Yeah it could make 70 million in the US box office over the weekend. The first movie has increased the popularity of the games. Sonic full games and free to play games were about 240 million in the last year. I am guessing only 4-5 million was actually game sales and the other 235 million was probably free to play phone downloads. Still its amazing how popular Sonic is right now. If videogame adaptations are the next big thing like superheroes tv shows and movies then acquiring Sega and having Halo, Minecraft, Fallout and Sonic movies/shows would be pretty strong.
Is crazy how tt has worked with crash and sonic before lego
I would also count avalanche after seeing their titles before hogwarts legacy, seeing a kameo game from them would be fantastic
You know it never crossed my mind before but if Microsoft does get WB Games and buys the company they’re working with on Contraband they’d have two studios with the same name just to be extra god damn confusing. Avalanche Software and Avalanche Studios.
Yea, it will be confusing but who knows if it is going to end happening, I just hope that if they buy this studios they will form midway again
