I am definitely going to play the other games once I end with monstrum nox, the gameplay is what catch me mostly, is really engaging, and about the trials series, I dont know much of it, but Ys gave me a great first impression, so I am expecting something similar from those games
You misspelled “Suikoden”
I wonder if Bloober Team would be worth it.
Prediction: summer/fall The Act/bliz deal ends and they have a XO for the plans for the company and to show future Act/Bliz games, Then early 23 Another mega-hit probably a Jap Pub
Heads up, “Jap” is a slur. If you must abbreviate Japanese please use JP
One thing I would say, and I say this knowing no insult was intended at all, is that it must be a good thing that so few people seem to know this these days that the phrase itself, as a slur, must have fallen out of use as a slur. people are accidentally using it for perfectly harmless reasons. No bad thing really and a sign of progress, after a fashion.
It’s insulting to me as a Japanese person. I don’t think ignorance of the meaning of a phrase makes it acceptable to use, but I understand what you’re saying about it falling into obscurity.
It is nice being able to read manga without waiting for translation
I’m not quite sure what you’re getting at here but I assume you mean that I can understand the language?
Seeing this list makes me realize that xbox has a lot of job to do in japan
So far they have been doing good but still their is franchises that needs to be ported, especially jrpgs
And for me the best ones ms can get are sega, platinum and now falcom, with falcom you can finally grow its popularity in america with gamepass, platinum will be great for amazing hack n slash titles aswell some niche stuff
And with sega you get both, niche titles aswell some classic jrpgs like phantasy star or skies of arcadia also adding atlus games
I think Xbox should be angling closer to Square Enix. Selling them on the idea of Gamepass growing the popularity of JRPGs outside of Japan. Sell them on expanding the market from primarily JRPG fans and Japanese gamers to more casual gamers or more western audience in gamepass.
If people want ports buy more Japanese games, simple as that because if the publishers don’t see sales they won’t think it’s worth their time and I can’t see MS subsidising these games for the few who seems to play them at the moment. It’s egg or chicken situation that if there isn’t any Japanese games on the console people who like those games won’t buy them, meaning you can grow a fan base. But these devs could be taking MS for a ride too, they know they’re rich and want to break into the market so they could be asking for a lot and MS doesn’t see it as worthwhile.
What I think MS will need to do is go Japanese indie route to crack the market, fund and support a ton of indie devs over there is probably their best bet.
Every thread i pop into folk are talking about Japanese games or the lack thereof, i think some of you are masochists, lol
I don’t even care about them tbh, I do feel like some people really overstate how much they’re needed though, it’s almost as if Xbox will fail without them which I doubt. Now having a diverse lineup matters for sure but I don’t think Xbox won’t grow or be bigger if they lacked Japanese support and it’s not like they have zero support as is.
If Xbox is looking for Japanese companies. Why not acquire KEMCO. It’s a good starting. Of course, it’s a small publisher but if Xbox invests in KEMCO, they would make a new engine for (S,T,J,A)RPG. It would be great if their games were on GamePass because people barely know their games. I hope Xbox bring their games on game pass and players would know it and buy their games on game pass sale or something else.
Small or medium studio. CC2, CyberConnect2 developed JRPG and Fighting games. I hope Xbox invests in CC2 and bring more games.
Large publisher. SEGA or CAPCOM. I prefer SEGA
with a good budget yakuza could become a kind of gta. a gta a little less “extreme and crazy”
Ca is also working on a new AAAA sci-fi tactical fps.
so even i prefer sega among japanese publishers
There should not be a platform with a reputation of games skipping it.
Being honest I have never hear of them, thanks to bring them up, surely gamepass will let more people know about them, meanwhile cyberconnect 2 I completely agree that they will be a good acquisition for xbox
No need to be hyperbolic; Nintendo consoles have a storied history of having games not being released and they have been just fine. @Daniel’s point is spot on though, according to the general sales performance of Japanese titles, people do tend to overstate their importance. You can argue diversity and personal preference all you want, but you can’t argue against the data.
Isnt that xbox is going to fail without them, but they are neither going to grow more in japan if they continue being the only platform that most jrpg games skip
I really dont understand why people hate the idea of xbox investing in japan, sure the idea of selling less in xbox is always there but they still can bring their games to pc and also expand the market of xcloud
Xbox would still have a big pressence in US even without bethesda and abk, but people wants them to buy rockstar or ea to grow only there and nothing else, I dont know man
If they really want to grow gamepass I would expect them to enter in other markets instead of being only in one
