Not only this, but many employees also have stock in Activision. If the company sale falls through how does that benefit employees? They will lose tons of money.
There are also non-employee shareholders and investors that would be worse off if it doesn’t go through. Its just bad to let a company fail and fall apart due to internal issues. It is a great thing to have another company with great work culture step in and save the company and clean up all these issues.
While I agree with Microsoft over Sony due to Game Pass, it also depends on the acquisition. For example, Activision Blizzard has nothing for me except for Diablo IV which I would buy anyway if I had to so doesn’t matter.
In general, I would much rather see Sony acquire a publisher over Tencent, Apple, Amazon, Google (lmao, threw them in for shits and giggles) or Facebook. Reason being is simple, I own a PS5 and have zero interest in any of those other companies gaming wise so I wouldn’t want any of them to buy any publisher, especially if it’s one that I like and gives me games im interested in.
Makes sense, however I would take Tencent over Sony since they generally will support PC or even multiplatform or the status quo.
There’s only a few publishers I wish to be acquired by any of the other companies like Apple, Google, Meta, or Amazon – and that’s when I would rather see them be chewed up and swallowed to be forgotten forever through out all of time.
I would never choose those five companies over Sony because they’re all far worse at least for me anyway. I’m not a PC gamer whatsoever (consoles only baby!!!) but im assuming that you are so that makes sense.
Gaming wise, I don’t want to see those five companies acquire any publisher or development studio because I don’t have any interest in those companies. Even publishers I don’t have any interest in, I still would choose Sony or Microsoft because who knows, they may give me a game or games in the future that im interested in.
Also, im very happy being a two console owner. Xbox Series X (primary) and PlayStation 5 (secondary) is enough for me. Don’t want to see any of those companies enter the console gaming market.
How do you make these so fast? Additionally, how are the others coming along?
Also, in regards to koei tecmo: What was the series between Atelier and Warriors Orochi? i Have no recollection of it.
Genuinely hope it does lead to Microsoft acquiring them, i feel like they have a lot of creative ideas, especially once they dont make a fighting game ip of a know series(Even though some of them are quite fun), that just need a little bit of polish and money to make their project even more memorable. Abit more info of said studios history and titles:
Also do you guys think it`s likely that Microsoft would aim to work with the likes of both White Owl and Artplay on exclusive content? I remember someone saying that Tim Schaffer is buddies with Swery (CEO of White Owl) but i do not know if this is correct or false.
I would definitely love to see them working with xbox, especially cyberconnect2, after seeing what else they can do like asuras wrath, hack series and solatorobo, it will be interesting to see them workikg on something new insteadof another licensed fighting game
Also I would add toylogic, they are a small developer from japan, makers of happy wars, happy dungeons and most recently the nier replicant remake
I know the quality of the GTA remasters have been rather disappointing but GTA still sells so much. Imagine having the new COD and GTA 6 (if it even releases this console generation) on game pass day one.
I totally get it, if fromsoft for example gets acquired by sony they’ll continue to make great games for fans to enjoy, but for me personally it makes no difference if fromsoft gets acquired by sony or ceases to exist. Sony has completely driven me away from their platform, and by the looks of it it’s only getting worse, that’s why I said sony acquiring anyone is bad news for me, I wasn’t speaking for everyone.
It would be insane, not to mention the rest of their back log and the R.A.G.E engine would be such a good get. They also have a lot of other big franchises like bioshock, Mafia, anything from rockstar, civilainan, xcom ect. and Take Two has a suprisingly strong hold on the mobile market even before zynga happened
I definitely agree with your multiplatform take though. When it comes to these major publishers at least.
I’d be totally down to see SEGA/CAPCOM join and receive the biggest bag of resources they’ve ever seen. Would also love to see both of them take more risks (still kinda upset with what CAPCOM did to Blue Castle and essentially forced them into DR4).
