Fuga: Melodies of Steel, which has sequels in production. As well as two other games in production right now. CyberConnect2 Trilogy of Vengeance titles set for simultaneous worldwide release, video update - Gematsu
I pointed out that microsoft buying up more of the industry, for example, epic, ubi, ea, could potentially (more than likely in my opinion) backfire in the long run, I’m just saying microsoft already owns a massive chunk of the industry and throwing out names of 70 billion companies to be bought out like they are indie studios, on top of microsofts already massive acquisitions, isn’t necessarily in our best interest in the long run.
You replied saying that is heavily-reaching speculation, implying ms won’t turn for the worse, I’m just saying it obviously is speculation, just not heavily-reaching. I mean I’ll be more shocked if a 3 trillion company puts the interest of it’s consumers above it’s own, than if it doesn’t.
And I don’t get the part about me being a new member and to chill out, I literally made a simple suggestion.
So far I have seen only one company that has less than 200b market cap, that did not do any 70b purchases, owns huge chunk of the industry yet increased the prices to their games to 70$, with server downtime that does not allow to launch the games and also extreme MTX in their mainline racing title…
I mean seriously, all these hypotheticals about “big bad Microsoft that might or might not appear in the future” does not mean much where we have much more egregious examples today and I don’t see people panicking. As long as Game Pass provides value, I could care less what Microsoft will acquire.
lets say Microsoft did buy all or most major publishers which I doubt they will (they will probably get a big chunk though), why would they “ruin” gaming, I am not going to say stuff like micro transactions wouldn’t be pushed more escpecially with game pass’s existence but if MS “ruins” people will unsub from game pass and won’t buy the games and MS will take a big steaming L
So you want us to just discuss only about indie studios or simply doesnt talk anymore about acquisitions, I dont know man, the last two companies to enter xbox where publishers, of course people will talk about more publishers after that, I really dont know what was your point with that opinion in a place like this one, there isnt a single company that puts the interest of it’s consumers above it’s own
If tencent, embracer or any other big company ended buying every last publisher will you have the same problem?
Embracer isn’t buying any big publishers (maybe stuff like team 17 though), embracer buys a lot of stuff but they trend to be small for a reason, sure they will make big purchases onces and a while but their biggest was gear box (if I am not mistaken). Tencent on the other hand could 100% pick up someone big
FWIW I think what you’re saying makes sense from a regulatory perspective. I think they’d be looking at potential for malicious behavior when reviewing behavior not only what they have done. Faith that they will continue to be a good actor isn’t going to get it done.
I also don’t think it’s weird to assume that a Xbox that is #1 in the market won’t be as consumer friendly as one that is trying to claw at marketshare.
Personally I would love for MS to get Epic but I feel it’s unlikely.
As I think I have mentioned on here before I have a love hate relationship with Epic - I met my wife on Unreal Tournament before they ultimately killed the franchise, then they killed one of my other favourite games (Save the World) by merging it into Fortnite and then pulling support in favour for Battle Royale (meh!).
Epic Games Store is another massive PC games store after just getting both Bethesda.net and Battle.net (could cause issues with regulators).
They also own one of the biggest engines (UE) which again could cause issues with the regulators but would make sense for all of the XGS projects which are using the engine. If I remember correctly there is also an ongoing feud between Todd Howard and Tim Sweeney (stemming from the engine).
All of that said imagine Unreal Tournament, Quake, Doom, Halo, HeXen, CoD and Gears all under the same roof!
More importantly the season pass for Rocket League might get included in GamePass - that would be awesome for me (and perhaps @Shpeshal_Nick
)?
I wonder if Microsoft will revive Radical Entertainment after the Activision/Blizzard acquisition.
Reviving studios is tough, since it’s basically “make a new studio but with the old name on it”. Which is difficult right now. Maybe if there was enough of the management remaining elsewhere in Activision they could rebuild it? Wouldn’t be awful to see Prototype given new life though, or a general reboot. Microsoft doesn’t really have anything in that sort of “open world action game” type.
I could definitely see Xbox trying to partnering up with or acquire CC2, mostly because i think they are quite an interesting studio with great ideas but a bit lacking thanks to limited budget. So i would be pleasantly surprised to see a partnership occurring with them.
Do not know much of Mr. Tabata`s work overall and why it would be a boon for Xbox to work with them. Can someone elaborate on this?
Also, i honestly think Xbox might acquire White Owl, mostly because i remember someone stating prior that the CEO, Swery, is good friends with the likes of Tim Schafer, from Double Fine. So the possibility of either them partnering up or being acquired by Xbox sounds rather reasonable
What makes you say that? If you don´t mind me asking. I know that the Disgaea franchise is big but what else could they possibly try to bring to the table?
In regards to level 5, i would think the reason they gave up on the west was because of a lack of a localization unit within their own company. I recall that being the case.If so Xbox could try to bring a localization team over there to help them out.
What is Science;Adventure all about? If no one minds asking.
That is true that reviving studios would be tough but I think it would be easier once the acquisition is complete since then it will free up a lot of the developers the ability to work on multiple projects rather than doing yearly Call of Duty games. And Radical Entertainment could be a good studio to do open world destruction games such as a Prototype reboot and maybe Crackdown reboot as well as other classic games such as Simpson’s Hit and Run and Crash Tag Team Racing
I would love a new protype, that would be awesome
I agree. It sucks that the reason Radical Entertainment was shut down was because of low sales on Prototype 2 but the good thing is that with Microsoft they wouldn’t have to worry about it with Gamepass.
It’s a series of science-fiction visual novels that the writers basically describe as “99% science and 1% fantasy” (or “believable enough to feel real”). Steins;Gate is the most well known entry. It’s about a group of college aged youths who accidentally invent sending emails/texts to the past. They incorporate real life myths like John Titor and the IBM 5100 into the stories. I won’t say more. It is one of the best VNs I ever read.
Steins:Gate x Xbox?
That would be the best world line…
SOMEONE GET CHRISTINA ON THE PHONE!
I think MS uses unreal more than all other pubs out there combined.(with Activision and Bethesda included). The R.A.G.E. Engine under Microsoft would be nuts if they start getting hungry for Take two.
bruh that would be insane. I actually picture Microsoft buying take two as well but fun fact about R.A.G.E…it was made for a table tennis game…yep, modern GTA is made from a table tennis engine
Welcome to this site and you have a lot of great choices too.
I think Certain Affinity will likely be a future acquisition, and somewhat likely but possibly not are IOI, Avalanche and Asobo.
Publisher wise, I think it needs to be a Japanese one if MS are thinking long term and heavily pushing gamepass/cloud into Asia.
