and the stock dropped when overwatch 2 and diablo 4 were delayed not when the sexual harassment stuff came out, I checked that myself, so yeah it would of recovered. Microsoft just got activision for a much better price
Bullshit. Could you not continue to spread disinformation for whatever dismissive point you’ve been trying to make?
Per this article (of many), the greatest dip in their stock came in November… right when reports came out that Kotick knew and was complicit in the harassment and abuse of women. I even made a fancy screenshot with their past year’s performance to confirm.
so the scandle came to light in august and using the google stock the drop happened in november aka when overwatch 2 and diablo 4 were announced to be delayed…I don’t know how I am spreading miss infimation here when its a simple look at the stock market would show otherwise and even in your image the major dip happened around november once again adding more credibility to what I am saying.
While it maybe sad to say, major stock holders don’t care about this sexual harassment stuff, they only care about the profitability of their investment and if the lawsuit from the EEOC (Equal Employment Opportunity Commission) led to only an 18 million dollar fine why would the california one be any worse? It will also just be a fine sattlement most likely so what major risk to their investment would this stuff of really had?
Apparently Microsoft looked into buying Activision in the Steve Ballmer days. Steve Ballmer offers a scorecard on Microsoft’s big acquisitions, and revisits his own legacy as CEO - GeekWire
That makes it kind of organic, right?
Very interesting indeed, he specifically says “a number of times” too. It goes to show their M&A department are always looking at acquisitions however big or small.
I wonder how many got close to the finish line.
Damn, evening stars? Aren’t they the sonic mania guys, I am suprised SEGA didn’t buy or hire them
Sooner or later this probably will get discussed here. So before someone begins to doom post they should read everything, especially the last part.
Pretty much might as well indicate that they want to force American Corporations to lose out and be driven into the ground. Politicians suck.
Fat chance this passes lol, and even if it does would MS be affected? I’m not sure if the US enforces laws Ex Post Facto, so I can’t speak on it.
Edit: Changed my post a bit. It was not my intended message.
Yeah, the law makes it easier to unwind acquisitions of the past.
I think concern of the growing power of a couple huge companies is legitimate. What I am wondering about is the lack of regulation of foreign investments.
Chinese companies are buying everything up in real time and nobody seems to care. And all of these companies are heavily intervened with the Chinese government.
God know what happened, there was a rumor from Zippo, but that guy is totally fake he just throw stuff until one or two gets real because anyone who read the room can get into the same conclusion, he claims that Sega of America and Evening Star had a clash over Sonic Mania 2, but he doesn’t detail and doesn’t make any sense because SoA was always open to new stuff.
The only two guesses I can make is that Sonic Team was not happy that outsiders were the best choice for years (from Dimps to Whitehead) or Whitehead and the devs from Headcannon and PagodaWest who formed Evening Star weren’t looking into a sequel.
I really don’t think this is a big issue. I believe an antitrust bill like this has never passed, and frankly this one is ridiculous. Not only does it dissuade business from taking place but it also prevents business from saving others and thus jobs through acquisition.
It’s a bill that is likely to only be championed by a minority of progressives and otherwise quashed at every turn. I don’t see party unity on the democrats side let alone a single republican approving this. I’m largely progressive, but this is big government overreach and willfully blind to the business landscape. Monopolies are bad, consolidation is a case by case, that’s what the regulators are for. Not to paint with broad strokes, especially in a world where other countries will see firms merge and compete and possibly suffocate American incumbents if their ability to compete is kneecapped like this.
That said, I think publisher acquisitions will slow for now. ABK is 4 Bethesda’s in size. They’ll need to slow.
I would be surprised if this gets much traction in the Senate, where there are typically more “adults” in the room. But I have been surprised before.
Like I said, there is no real anticompetitive case to be made on this one.
I don’t see it passing.
ABK was the biggest publisher. You can’t have bigger acquisition than that - other acquisitions will be smaller in any case.
Midterms are gonna be interesting.
is this passed or is it just a proposal because MGM has just passed
and this is some BS, like I don’t like monopoly’s but stuff like
“They would have authority to reject mergers outright, without requiring court orders.”
feels like an act which will piss off a lot of companies and people since it will basically be the goverment saying they are above the law
Just a side note, I think there is nothing wrong with strenthening restrictions but in ways this could hurt compition or massively backfire due to multiple factors (I will list the core ones)
- it only appears to target tech companies which basically garentees, non who want to get into movies for example can compete against someone like disney or universal
- it’s restrictions are way too tight, like there are some points that I agree with like letting the FTC or DOJ have more freedom to investigate or allowing them to split companies up easier seem fair to an extent but stopping any above 5 billion is dumb and not needing a court case to stop a merger feels not dumb but just straight up corrupt
- these restrictions could lead to companies like microsoft, amazon, alphabet ect. to move their HQ to somewhere else like the united kingdom killing a lot of revenue the goverment is getting and a lot of the wealthy image America has
- if this goes though you could get these companies to indirectly or directly support whoever the other person in voting is next election, escpecially facebook who could manipulate the algorithm to show more support for the other canidate and alphabet too since they own google granted facebook is more famous for doing this kind of thing
