Why people always bring Konami? Aside IPs they literally has nothing useful (unless you are into slot machines lol)
I should have clarified this better I meant Xbox buying the backlog of Lego games not the Lego company itself. My logic was to strengthen e rated content for gamepass apologies. If that is even possible I am not sure.
I meant it as a joke
So far it seems Lego is willing to license IP to other studios (like Disney with Star Wars now). However, I don’t think Microsoft is interested in making the games based on the third party IPs as they don’t control over it.
I agree with you, they definitely want that control but would it even be possible to buy the old Lego games publishing rights and drop them all into gamepass?
It should be possible of course. The question if Microsoft is willing to pay for that even if the games might be removed from the store. What are the licensed IP first party games are in the store right now (that are not coming from EA Play)?
IDK, it depends on both the price. The reason AT&T apparently didn’t sell WB games was because the offers were to low but why would they sell for a massively high price if they don’t come with the things that made them valuable
You forgot SEGA, Take Two and EA ;-;
IDK, I feel like buying their IPs would be pricy but worthwhile
Yeah, without IPs no way somebody would by whole WB studio deck for 4b. They cost 2b at best at that time. And even now without IPs probably too.
But who’s gonna make those games though? So far it seems like all Microsoft’s studios are busy with their own new IPs and a lot of third party devs are happily make their own IPs. And for example MGS - nobody would buy it without Kojima behind it.
I really like the games that come out of WB. There are tons of talented devs in those studios that I’m sure could come out with great games either for brand new IP’s or existing dead IP that are not currently being worked on. I completely agree they are definitely not worth 4 billion just for the studios alone. Xbox would definitely benefit from the purchase regardless because of the types of games they make, fighting, 3rd person narritive and e rated fills lots of holes for gamepass
I heard it was rumoured/leaked the highest offer/bid was 3 billion but yeah, WB with the licenses is probably woth a ton, around the same amount as take two if not more, but without them…they lose a lot of their value, its similar to EA in that way I guess, the moment EA losing their licenses their value probably at least split it half
not sure but having the back log alone and having them as assets which some studios could eventually work on (like if MS hypothetically bought capcom later on (After buying the konami IP’s I mean) they could get their resident evil team to make/remake silent hill games too or get the megaman team to make new contra’s or get the DMC team to make a hack and slash style castlevia like the Kojima ones ect.) I am not saying it would be the best buy, just a worthwhile one
which is why I said it depends on the price, I think AT&T will just sell off WB discovery though as a whole including their gaming division
I wonder who would port MGS4 on Xbox and PC then though
they could literally outsource that, it wouldn’t be challanging (assuming their isn’t some contract I am not aware of between Konami and sony)
An on-topic one, so I approve by default
Nah the game was apparently just extremely tailor made for PS3’s unique hardware.
They could still port it if Konami has the code, if not do a remaster or remake which could be outsourced
With all the talk about From Software and if Kadokawa would sell them, but if they would I’m curious if they would sell their other company Spike Chunsoft too.
The reason l say that is because I can’t help but think Kadokawa would want to get all the money they can and so selling Spike Chunsoft as part of the package would allow them to get more money, then just selling From or Spike Chunsoft by themselves.
Support studios I think MS will pursue next. The troubles MS are having with Halo tells they need a support infrastructure.
Certain Affinity and Behaviour Interactive fit this
Behavoir Interactive would certainly be an amazing acquisition for them. They’d become my answer to hire Xbox can go tackle Fallout 5. Integrate them into Bethesda, have them work alongside that team. There were over 200 Behavoir Interactive employees credited on Fallout 4, they know the lore, the engine, etc. They can integrate in pretty seamlessly and allow Bethesda to keep hold of the IP
Yea they need it i agree and also stop with the contractor nonsense
Wow 200 employees on F4? Did not know that. I know they had a huge hand on Gears Hivebusters as well.
