Lego is a third party license that Microsoft has no control over (and now Lego is giving the license to T2) so unless Microsoft buys Lego (not gonna happen) it is gonna be a third party license.
As far as I know until 2019 (or something) it was a common notion that Microsoft was to blame for Scalebound cancellation and for whatever issues the game had. It was not until Microsoft started to throw around money when Kamiya came out and said that the problems with Scalebound had also something to do with PG.
can I have a source for this because I don’t remember them saying
I don’t even want to know how much LEGO would cost tbh…the amount scares me
How is this platinum taking any level of blame, it even ends in a middle finger way to MS/xbox “…this hurts Xbox more than Platinum. This was one of the few games that had me considering picking up an Xbox One, but now I have virtually no interest in the console until they come up with some big exclusives.”
“ I’ll work extra hard to never have to let you down like this again, so I hope you will keep watching over us in the future too.” - This tweet is shared in the article.
That’s straight from Kamiya. If that’s not Kamiya at least taking partial blame for the game then I’m not sure what else you could ask for.
ok but that isn’t taking blame for the cancellation in the slightest, it isn’t even taking shared blame, since their are tons of ways to interprite this. I could ask for more substance pretty easily and validly
Just finished elden ring and I gotta say, I wish ms could somehow get fromsoft. They don’t even need to take away anything from playstation just make sure sony doesn’t moneyhat anything ever from fromsoft and I’m good. Other than than, ms could make zero other acquisitions and I’d be cool, they literally already have half the gaming industry at this point.
FromSoft is amazing from a world building and art perspective. Having some extra resources could definitely help with their tech and hopefully some of their weird design choices (that lock-on needs to be fixed and co-op should be way less obtuse lol)
Sony doesn’t moneyhat FromSoft, they work with them to fund a new exclusive. Demon’s Souls and Bloodborne were in junction with Japan Studio.
Also pretty much all multiplat FromSoft games now are published by Bandai Namco who doesn’t do Sony moneyhats (or even Sony marketing). There is no worry to Sony moneyhatting FromSoft, only “worry” that they will fund a new game for them (which they are entirely within their right to do, but since Japan Studio is closed now I don’t see it happening).
Exactly. Microsoft didn’t even buy Bungie because of their multiplat clause. If MS were to acquire From Software from their patent company they would 100% be exclusive to the Microsoft ecosystem. Microsoft is trying to bolster their ecosystem not Sony’s.
And even if one were to happen, I bet FromSoft would have an independence clause similar to what Bungie and Mojang have - freedom to stay multiplatform and publish where they want to.
That said, if we’re just wishing and dreaming, of course they could be a stellar part of XGS. (their accessibility features leave a little to be desired, though…and MS would hopefully correct that)
It is not worth it if From Software won’t make exclusive games. And Microsoft is aware about that. They clearly buy everything to make exclusive content for Game Pass.
Mojang doesn’t have an independence clause. Microsoft chose to keep Minecraft multi platform , Bungie was the first time a deal like that happened. If MS for whatever reason acquired From there wouldn’t be an independent clause and if From demanded one like Bungie, MS just wouldn’t acquire them.
Yeah, I mean while Mojang is kinda odd, we know that there is no Minecraft 2 or anything else - it is just a single Minecraft game that is supported on various platforms. Basically they kept it available. I mean if Microsoft were to acquire Square Enix, FF14 will be available on other platforms.
I think with Minecraft Dungeons they kinda made a mistake, but Phil said some time ago that they did not plan to release more games without full Xbox experience attached.
