Xbox Acquisition |OT5| Talking Exclusively About Xbox Acquisitions

I heard bethesda was heavily rumoured 2 years before it happened but I am not sure if thats true. Besides that, not sure

I don’t know if it makes sense but it definitely makes sense for them to be a target

Hmm good point yeah.

But now the more important question is what is this “Dealer’s gaming”'s track record?

I don’t know about you guys but I don’t think xbox will run out of rpgs just because of losing cdpr

Same reason as always my friend, some users hear some rando mention that Sony/Microsoft is buying x, despite having no or shit track records, and now it all makes sense….

I don’t think Xbox loses anything if Sony gets CDPR.

If Sony aquired CDPR, wouldn’t they be under heavier scrutiny by the FTC/DoJ since they’re the leader in marketshare? It only makes sense to me.

I heard he is an xbox fanboy so probably not

I think if anything Microsoft should focus on getting some big JRPG’s by acquiring square maybe so they can have a better hold on the genre as a whole rather than just the western ones

No they are losing something, its just not a massive loss

no, tencent is the market leader and in terms of 2020 revenue with nearly 20% (18.4%) of the revenue of gaming. If Sony acquired CDPR their share with 2020 revenue would be 14.58% they would be fine

Sony acquiring Bungie & CDPR would give the green light for MS to buy at least four more publishers. :phil_lmao:

yes because bungie and CDPR is totally comparable Capcom, Square Enix, Take Two and EA…obviously. No it wouldn’t even be comparable but Microsoft could probably get away with it as something people trend to forget is that most of gaming’s revenue (around half of it) is from mobile gaming and nearly a quater of it is from the PC which is primarily stuff like steam, the fortnite launcher, Chinese launchers ect. Microsoft doesn’t really even scratch it with the windows store and battle .net which isn’t that major will probably go the way of the bethesda launcher within a year or 2 of been acquired (Same goes with most storefronts besides maybe GOG or if by some miricle microsoft convinced valves to sell which probably won’t happen).

Like for reference, if Microsoft bought Nintendo and Sony they wouldn’t even own 40% of the total gaming revenue

It isn’t a loss at all, Xbox already has the greatest talent in western RPGs, period.

CDPR made one great game and fumbled another, Sony can waste their money on them for all I care. Obsidian, Bethesda and Inxile are more than enough in this genre.

if they lose games it is loss in potential profit for Microsoft no matter how little it is

Really? I normally big CDPR up as they also own GOG.com but… we are talking The Witcher (which they don’t own) and Cyberpunk (which has been a massive calamity).

How is that worth anywhere near Capcom or SEGA? Both have massive renown and franchises.

I was joking…tbh I don’t know they could buy 4 publishers and I doubt they’d try.

They could, all at once probably not, but nothing is stopping them in the long term

What games are they losing? This isn’t Sega, Capcom or EA, that have a ton of legendary IPs under their belt.

The Witcher is the only IP of value they have, I don’t know man… You shouldn’t worry about it, at all.

future CDPR games, I am not worried I am saying it is a loss for them lol, its just not a major one and ultimatley MS isn’t going to scoop up everyone, amazon, google, facebook, tencent, apple ect. will probably scoop up their fair share too

They don’t even own the Witcher IP.

This kind of loss (a WRPG studio) is made void, when MS possess the biggest names in this genre already, no matter what future IPs CDPR may put out there under Sony, they’ll never ever one up MS in this regard.

I guess that if you’re a fan of those games, then yes, it’s a loss for YOU, but this kind of acquisition wouldn’t make a dent on Xbox and would waste Sony’s money.

A Japanese publisher acquisition or EA/Take-Two one would be something else though, but that would enable even more acquisitions on our side.

I have never played a CDPR game in my life, I will probably try the witcher 3 eventually, but how is Microsoft losing a game and in turn not getting the money which they could of got from those games not a loss. It might not be a massive loss and as I have said I doubt Microsoft would care but I don’t get how this isn’t a loss
