What if Phil had to deny, because they have been talking to a publicly traded company?
The journalist is pretty well connected in Japan. I don’t think he pulled that out of thin air.

I think they go for less than a billion. Not saying they’re not worth more(Bloodborne is a favorite of mine) but Microsoft shouldn’t have to pay 2 billion for them. If they do then they might as well buy out their parent company too. Get some anime of their first party games made.

Microsoft reportedly helped Techland with Dying Light 2 funding. Wonder what they got out of it? Any chance it could give them an opportunity to purchase 
Might be optimistic but it is an interesting note. Alternatively though - Phil could have approached them but nothing panned out meaning there were no active talks as of the interview. Still though, I bet there’s a few publisher shareholders looking at these recent deals and wondering if now is the right time to sell to get the most for their investments.
It’s an unfounded worry but I hope there wouldn’t be any IP “sacrifices” with a JP publisher, just because the IP was too niche/unpopular whatever. I saw someone mention SMT as a possible one. Under Sony I think this would absolutely happen, but Game Pass on Xcloud Xbox PC should nullify this argument I suppose.
Only real reason I worry is because I’m still skeptical on Xcloud being the ticket to get Japanese gamers into the ecosystem.

Source? Because in this case, the Rumors about Techland acquisition could be true and this could be a fantsatic studio. Dyingg light 2 shows that.

Don’t want to be the party pooper but you should take that with a grain of salt. Not only is that article 2 years old we also have Phil Spencer on video on an interview saying that what the article says is not true.
