Xbox Acquisition |OT5| Talking Exclusively About Xbox Acquisitions

Then this behind the scenes explanation you give here can apply to Japanese devs and just about anybody else then Microsoft would buy.

There is nothing else to it.

I just think Level 5 not worth the time or money and their output is mid since the 360. Rather xbox target actual studios that are producing worthwhile content.

Why CDPR? On top of a culture that needs help you also don’t own the IP. What if the IP holders want any games to stay multi-platform?

Prog when he read your comment…

The Witcher Writer ?

the man complains how he didn’t get any money or low amount from these games, just give him big bag and he would agree.

The guy based his thought of possible acquisition due to the fact that the new president used to work at MS. Ehh :man_shrugging:

So independent developers in the Japan market that isn’t Platinum or Kojima. Who would they go after? Nihon? Media.Vision? Vanillaware? I don’t think any of those studios are better or worse than Level-5.

Falcom and Vanillaware are absolutely better than Level-5 at this present moment.

Of the independent developers out there, the highest production quality is very clearly CDPR. The only culture issues they’ve had are crunch and releasing a game early, which is leadership, not the studio, that’s easy to fix.

The IP imo would be part of the purchase, they’d buy The Witcher. No need to buy Cyberpunk though, just give them Shadowrun.

This is buying a Rockstar, Naughty Dog, Santa Monica level studio, it’s absolutely worth it.

But how can you say that? All three of them are in the same situation. All of their games are critical successes, and don’t blow up the sales charts. So how are they better?

I don’t agree with javy here on level 5, they could be good studio for MS.

as for other studios i hear this small studio called FromSoftware Could be decent…

ArcSystem is good fighting studio.

CyberConnect2 is good studio.

maybe JP Games.

This is the one

I’m just trying to understand what Javy doesn’t see in them. It sounded like it was about sales and mass appeal. But the other studios don’t meet that criteria either.

as for CDPR, i can’t see any improvement for GOG in coming years. they are struggling with it right now. this will affect their price even more.

I think problem with independent JP Studios, if it’s not for money they might demand releasing their games on switch.

for now i expect focus on independent studios until opportunity rise again (Publisher)

Honest question: when was the last critical hit out of Level-5?

They just released two Yo Kai watch games in the last three years getting positive reviews for both. I haven’t personally played it because we’ll… they don’t release them here in the US. A new Inazuma game is coming sometime this year or next, which have always been really good, I had to special order mine from the UK, because they don’t release them in the US either. The problem is they haven’t released many of their games here in the west. But man those Nintendo DS Professor Layton games are :fire:. That’s why MS should pick them up, they own all of their IP and haven’t succumbed to doing third party grunt work. And we could get a treasure box full of their games that never released in the west

Level 5s work with Nintendo was incredible. MS could do with something like Professor Layton
