Most of the people who made that game are at Playground games anyway (or Codemasters).
Pfft. He doesn’t scare me.
Anyway, I don’t get why you talked about Falcom guys, MS would never acquire a small/mid japanese developer. If they get someone there, it’ll be a publisher and/or a dev under a publisher (like Tango).
Publisher might be problematic just because most Japanese publishers have American and European branches and I feel like FTC/DoJ will really be breathing down Microsoft’s neck after Acti-Blizz.
man there is higher chance of xbox getting PG, KojiPro than Falcom
Nah, japanese publishers are small fries in the grand scheme of things, outside Bandai Namco they are all Bethesda level at most (and even less have games of TES/Fallout/Doom legendary status). They’ll investigate about adding less than 1% in the overall gaming market? I don’t think so.
Niche Japanese publishers come on, be realistic.
This is MS guys, they are notorious for being so NA centric.
I still think a 3rd publisher start bringing problems and raises too many questions regardless of how many publishers Sony may/will acquire.
Just Ys Origin, thanks to the effort of Dotemu porting it. They were a developer who was firmly planted in PS exclusive launches, but their recent game didn’t sell too well and they blamed it a bit on the state of PS in Japan (that should tell you what they would think of Xbox…) so they’re talking about developing for Switch now. I’m interested to see how that works out for them but yeah Xbox is sooooo much a non-factor here it’s not even funny.
I’ve played some of their games and the story is usually good but their budget is really poor, with each of their games the graphics barely improve. They were also still using Phyre Engine a few years ago and Kuro no Kiseki finally looks like a PS3 game lol.
They get compared to Gust a lot but at least those guys make their games look a lot better with each release, even though their characters movement still looks so infuriating.
I’d rather MS go after Level 5 if they weren’t so mismanaged.
nah they will jump on Capcom if there is a chance, idk about the rest though.
That’s fanboys (or journous, but there’s a difference?) talk of the street, Sony would be harsher scrutinized, expecially by US, being a foreign company and having (for now) a bigger stake.
It’s not a quality issue, it’s more about realism: Xbox won’t acquire a studio they don’t even know the phone number and almost nobody knows in the west.
Start thinking:
Take Two.
Certain Affinity.
SE West. Crystal Dynamics. Eidos Montreal etc.
Frontier as MS love the UK as well.
Edit. UK and maybe IOI if MS go international
Disagree, I think under the current FTC administration a 3rd publisher could present real challenges.
Microsoft still may have to concede some things in Acti-Blizz depending on how FTC is feeling. Hoag has said concessions are a possibility.
I doubt it
SE West probably won’t be sold off despite SE East frustrations with them because they become a part of a juicy package for Sony during the inevitable Square-Enix acquisition. You want the teams and the IPs that go with them.
West and East.
We’ll see, I assure you people talking about it now are essentially getting the clicks and seeding doubt is the most effective way, lol.
what do you mean you doubt ? we already knew they were in talk before MHW Happened and changed the whole company around.
