Until proven otherwise, I think Acti-Blizz was a bad purchase call.

Talented devs tied up to a franchise until at least 2024 which will take time to divorce them from. New games are years away.

Possible 18 months timeframe till deal closes which could possibly prevent purchases of better options if they come on market.

Possibly blowing the last “Acquire Another Publisher without Government start breathing down your neck” on Acti-Blizz.

Until I see otherwise, I think this was a bad impulse purchase.

Granted I never said I was a buisness major, but to me, the average gamer, I fail to see what Acti-Blizz does even within the 2023 timeframe that something else couldn’t.

That purchase is part of the long game for Xbox. We will see the impact of it over the course of the next 10-20 years.

I just said I don’t think it’s all that great for the short-term for me.

Long term once things really kick off, oh hell yeah.

But I’m not worried about the future because hell I could get struck by lightning and that’s the end of Prog.

I want more short-term immediate than long-term future.

There’s literally nothing Xbox can buy short term that will make you happy. It takes years for games to be made and buying a ready made publisher that has TEN THOUSAND employees is literally the fastest way to get Xbox games quickly.

Regarding Japanese presence, a relatively easy way for Xbox would be to help Tango expand into multiple teams and fund projects that are diverse.

This would be more of a long-term plan though.

I believe Tango has already said they are 3 teams working on 3 projects.

There’s literally nothing Xbox can buy short term that will make you happy. It takes years for games to be made and buying a ready made publisher that has TEN THOUSAND employees is literally the fastest way to get Xbox games quickly.

IDK WB Games would at least have several games in the pipeline that weren’t CoD.

Pretty much, Evil within 3 isnt confirmed but that director is working on his next game, which could be EW3 or something else.

I think in the short term we should be more than covered with games from across XGS, Bethesda, and Publishing. Plus maybe 2-3 from Blizzard depending.

That aint coming to at least fall 2023 depending on if they can negotiate with Sony about Treyarch 2023 giving the marketing rights.

Please, don’t keep dominating the topic with this. You know the answer already. Short-term they add value to Game Pass with deals, long-term they do acquisitions.
