Remedy is one of those the Spencer Xbox of today would have cultivated better and bought onboard in the 360 era, a real shame that partnership fell apart. From what I heard the whole Quantum Break thing ended a little bitter so not sure they would want to be acquired now.
I wonder how the relationship between Xbox and Remedy really is. It does seem like it got a lot worse.
The community manager seemed to like the idea of joining PlayStation.
But at least the rumors of the PlayStation exclusive games seem to be wrong.
Grubb said that they are on good terms . After Quantum Break released , Phil said to Remedy CEO that they (xbox) have no idea what to do with them (remedy) right now so until they (xbox) figure out some internal stuff , they (remedy) are free to do whatever they want .
That’s good to hear, if true. They are one of those studios that has a relationship and association with Xbox that runs back a long time. Would make sense as an acquisition, definitely.
Yup .Grubb said xbox might work with remedy again directly after the Epic deal ends . He also said that Remedy has the best deal in the industry right now . Epic will pay 100% for the cost of Remedy’s game development and Remedy also gets to keep 95% of the profit from the games .
Pretty sure Remedy was shopping around seeing who would fund a new Alan Wake and was getting close to PlayStation. In the end they went with Epic. It wouldn’t surprise me to see the new Alan Wake game being timed exclusive to PS though considering that would be a good dagger up Sonys sleave to use at a E3.
Agree. They have been burnt a lot in the past with the approach of publishing games where they don’t have IP rights. I expect IP ownership of anything they publish is going to be a hard policy from now on.
No, the point is that they did not continue the partnership. They could do that, release another exclusive game and then buy Remedy (straight from Sony’s handbook). But as at that time Xbox was questioned by CEO they could not continue.
Forget Remedy
This studio is already packed to capacity with a bunch of contracts.
Their latest indirect collaboration with xbox will be Crossfire X
What’s the point of buying them in this case?
