Xbox Acquisition |OT4| It's Acquisition Season for Xbox with $69 Billion deal, NICE!

They are getting closer to their 1 billion MAU goal. That’s within reach now ! :exploding_head:

Cod now needs to be a one studio IP, and to be given time off

Reunite them into Eidos under Microsoft.

Won’t happen. COD will probably go to every other year releases though. Maybe try to time it so a big multiplayer shooter comes the other year for Xbox. Say COD, Gears, COD, Quake, COD, Halo etc

In before someone makes joke about Gears not being big

I honestly think that even if Sony does purchase a major Japanese dev like Square or Capcom we’d just see a lot of the employees drop out and form new independent companies.

MS gave Halo a 6 year break, and that was sorely needed. COD kinda needs the same

Xbox will have 45 to 5o studios buy 2025, this move will give Gamepass subscription a massive boost mark my words.

Them and CD. Most ambitious reunion ever.

COD is much larger though and its the main gamepass attraction in the purchase. They want people to dive into the Xbox ecosystem, this is how.

I’d also argue that with them only having to optomize for PC and Xbox that the workload will be lessened as will the QA required. Should positively affect timelines. Keep in mind like 4000+ people work on COD and they have multiple COD games in development right now.

The biggest reason for COD’s continued success is to constantly milk the IP by releasing it every year to the consumers so it can sustain its mind/market share.

I don’t think MS will want to change that, atleast not in a way where you’ll ever see the franchise go in ice like Halo did.

This MS are all about quality, Cod no longer needs to be every year when they have so much tentpole IP to sell subs.

Warzone will come to XGP and that alone is going to be huge

It’s also just becoming unsustainable to insist on CoD being released every year. We have all seen how Activision literally became a CoD publisher because of it and also a number of games went through troubled development, heck Black Ops 3 had its campaign cut.

I agree, I just don’t think it’ll ever be put on ice lol. 1-2 year gaps at max.

I want to meet Phil in person and act like a total fan girl. He legit saved Xbox. Now he has the promotion that not that he just deserved it but earned it, you can’t run a greater comeback story of gaming history than that.

The best possible scenario I can see regarding COD is that only 2 devs (say Treyarch and IW) who’ll be develop future titles instead of 3. Not sure about making the franchise to be a 2 year release or something. Thought with so ‘many’ devs MS had in their pocket, they probably don’t mind to.
