Xbox Acquisition |OT4| It's Acquisition Season for Xbox with $69 Billion deal, NICE!

Just a reminder that these are predictions that people are making… not all that different from our own.

What is the indy scene like in India? Are there teams that ID@Xbox should be looking at?

Is the Raji Team based in India? Im playing through it right now and I have always liked Indian mythology and architecture lol.

I’m waiting for a Poland like gaming dev surge in the Indian scene. But this will require flagbearers.

Just being an Indian-American and creating games in San Fran or LA or Maryland, is not going to be newsworthy enough. (Supergiant, TES)

No one in India cares much about that.

Need Indian game studios.

You would be able to fill out the art side of gamedev roles quickly, buy you need ppl to get attracted to the tech side of the roles too.

Acquisitions, studio creation, and local success stories will matter there.

One of the things that ms/xbox always mentions is increasing the size of the pie: This is how you increase it.

Looks like it.

There is so mythology out there that doesn’t get represented in movies or games.

Crytek is always a good pickup, anytime. But you might have to negotiate a golden parachute for some of the leadership there.

I think, they are losing talent slowly, and their financial situation is not exactly the best. They sold off Crytek Sofia a few years back to Creative Assembly.

Don’t know much about Fractiv. Will have to check them out.

What is an srpg?

Honestly I don’t think they need their own. Everyone is saying the best VR headset right now is the Valve index. Instead, why not just open the platform so it supports valves headset. Valve is literally a 15 min drive from Microsoft HQ.

Sorry, SRPG stands for Strategy, Role playing game.

Not entirely sure why you are glossing over how big the mobile market is, it’s bigger than PS,Xbox and Nintendo combined.

Fortnite, Cod, soon BF, Genshin Impact and Minecraft. I’m sure I’m missing out on many others, like Phil has said they want to hit as many gamers as possible and currently most are on mobile as much as people don’t want to recognise that.

I’d have no problem with that and most likely would prefer that.

I just want to know how MS would go about making sure there is a set quality with VR, if MS open sourced that for Xbox.

I know in the past MS had Mixed Reality headsets and I could see something like that working for Xbox, but going in an open sourced way would definitely improve VR faster, then just going with an exclusive one.

Are you talking about Holo Lens? Because Holo Lens is massive for Microsoft. It’s just in the military space right now

Think Microsoft needs the capability to deliver 1-2 XGS games a quarter before they should consider pushing resources towards VR.

VR should be something they can pivot too pretty quickly as long as they keep involved in the software side of things.

Not even Sony commits their premier studios to VR so that should tell you all about that.

VR isn’t going to reach critical mass adoption until headsets are the size of a pair of comfortable glasses. There are also a whole host of issues that need to get ironed out as well and they will with time.

Think of the original cell phones. They were gigantic, expensive and they kind of sucked. 20 years later they’re slim, still expensive (lol) and they’ve effectively replaced the home computer for most people. Some of the original “players” in the cell phone space no longer exist, and some who came late but did it better now have a stranglehold on the market (Apple and Samsung). This idea that MS needs their own VR headset right now or that they need to heavily invest in it right now is just nonsense to me.

Plus, you could make a persuasive argument that AR will be a better technology for the future anyway and MS is already invested in that.

MS doesn’t need their own VR headset when they have so many third party VR headsets for Windows. They could, if desired, support them on Xbox console hardware.

The time isn’t right for that, as Shadowgasm said. It’s still an entire generation away from being anything other than a niche.

Frontier would be a good get on the short term, but yea, I doubt we see MS get anything for a few years.

my predication they would Acquire XBOXERA

I just think that MS are happy with who they have for now, but will look as to who is next should an opportunity arise.
