I think he’s trying to say is that 1.5 billion windows users could potentially become gamers. If X-Cloud becomes relevant

Buying every single IP available doesn’t get 3 billion gamers.

That comment was solely about Xbox being accessible on as much platforms as possible.

Again what does this prove?

Pretty much this as I was going to post the same. AT&T still owns WBIE and all the studios under it. They may sell off a few but it’s not guaranteed. Discovery doesn’t own any of them. It is a Joint Venture which people are believing to be an acquisition which it isn’t. To put simply, it’s more for AT&T to not have to fund any of the media related content - games, movies, TV shows, etc. This is where Discovery and this “third company” which I still don’t believe has a name come in to play.

Also, the more pushed back WBIE’s games get, the more likely it’s because they’re still trying to sell them off and they would be worth much more BEFORE their games get released as opposed to afterwards.

2022 is going to be extremely interesting.

P.S. - People should watch Hoeg Law. Guy knows what he’s talking since he’s an actual corporate lawyer in Chicago.

3B ? MS would be happy with GP numbers close to office 365 subs

As we look farther into the future, it is likely the gaming populous will sky rocket.

Work as we know it today takes up so much time, however when looking towards the future it is likely that work will be less time consuming or more reliant on creativity and content providing. More and more people will also likely work from home, freeing up even more time for gaming.

Globably, the percentage of those living in poverty is decreasing and the availability of internet and electricity is rising.

Additionally, populations that were born into gaming are entering retirement age and generations that weren’t born into gaming won’t be around that long into the future.

As a result, there will be a huge percentage of the population gaming and gaming for more hours than ever.

This is something that has huge growth potential for Microsoft and I remain fmore on the portion that thinks there will be heavy investment into buying big studios, IP, tech etc. I won’t be at all surprised if Xbox doubles their studio count in the next 8 years.

It will most likely become the standard method of computing in the future. Metaverse is just a VR simulation. The reason why Facebook and every other company is interested in it is because they all believe in the future it’s the way people will primarily use the internet interact with each other. It’s the next wave of innovation on par to the dawn of the smart phone age. So if that becomes the standard method of computing essentially every person on the planet will become a gamer.

It’s actually a little concerning MS isn’t exactly pushing VR. I know they have third party partners and their AR device but Facebook and other companies are going to seriously start pushing this area soon and Apple is rumored to be releasing their device this year.

Going to be interesting to see acquisitions in this area.

Tim dog also predicting 1 or 2 acquisitions in 2022 notes he has not heard anything hes just guessing

maybe I’m being silly but my prediction is more in the 3-4 range.

After using Paramount plus and realizing it’s the worst experience of a paid sub I’ve ever had just to watch Evil, I hope other bums don’t open their sub service in games and ruin something great. Microsoft please save us.

Didn’t Nick day at least one by Xbox as well?

Oooo are we doing a baseless faceless unrealistic predictions game now?

Ok for 2022 I see 2

I’m gonna say one of left field will be behavior interactive

(I know net ease has a minority stake. They can be bought out)

I don’t particularly like this acquisition but I feel it like in the wind you know

And for the second I see an early fall acquisition of a major publisher

CAPCOM BABY LETS GO

What do you mean now? It’s the raison d’etre of this thread.

I have to agree with you and I think Microsoft needs to start investing in VR. I understand they are, but behind the scenes and they need to bring out a VR headset, for the Xbox Series X.

PlayStation 5 is getting one soon and it would be nice if the XSX had one too.

Crytek would be a good pick up, if MS was to bring out a Xbox VR headset.

Maybe Fractiv might be someone to look at too.

Fractiv is team of people that worked on Project Offset, before Intel cancelled their game and closed the company.

Now they are working on Etherland, which is a SRPG, for VR.

I understand the logic of going for variety.

Why not actually target 3bn ppl with homegrown originals. That has been the strategy of Prime videos and Netflix and Disney Plus.

1.4 bn in China and 1.4bn in India (with 25 official languages).

The locally made content profile will look very different from what is present today, iif they actually prioritise these 3bn ppl.

This foray may come in the form of acquisitions in China or Hong Kong or Taiwan, but for India you will need to create studios. Rockstar and Ubi have a support presence in India, but the gaming development scene is still comparatively new.

i know grubb did

It would be cool to see MS make an entrance into countries like China, but I don’t think Taiwan or Hong Kong will ever happen, because can you even imagine what would happen if MS bought a company like Red Candle Games, they’d be forever not allowed into China.

The Chinese government says both Hong Kong and Taiwan are owned by China, so with both countries saying they are independent and not under China’s control, I just don’t see that happening.
