We’re already off-topic, so I’ll just light this fire…
Legacy of Kain, according to Wikipedia, has sold 3.5 mil copies as a series.
I’d say that’s less relevant than Gears of War . @javycane …I’m coming for ya!
As with any old IP, people just want to feel like a kid again. It’s nostalgia-chasing, with rose-tinted glasses.
And apparently, SE has opened the license up for anyone to use, since 2017.
Back on topic, were Square West to be sold to Xbox, give Thief and Deus Ex to Arkane. Those for SURE would be a bigger deal than Legacy of Kain.

btw what is most popular genre/type of games outside of live service games that xbox needs more of it ?
if we rank them from first to last then that would RPGs at first place and xbox got that covered, what the about rest though ? is cinematic games or TPS Games with good story at second place ? these type games gained popularity in last 10 years.

Western RPGs are more popular than 15 hour cinematic games for many obvious reasons.
But that doesn’t mean Xbox should only focus on one or invest in one type of studio.

Well then it’s a good thing the last three years highlight the fact that they aren’t…

I would say it depends on the franchises that you put up against each other with that said I am very pleased where MS first party is at right now they do have holes but so does everyone else

MS will buy any studio small or large it’s matter if they think they are worth it or not.
look at gearbox for example you are telling me extra pay cheque won’t get randy out of the company ?
it’s simple MS decided it’s not worth it for company.
Name a single game that Gearbox has made in the last 10 years that wasn’t Borderlands and was good… you’d be hard pressed to find a legitimate critical and commercial success that Gearbox actually developed themselves over the last 20 years.

I’ll even go one step further and say Borderlands 2 was the last good Borderlands.
Maybe Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands (or whatever it’s called) will be good, but I just don’t have faith.
The Borderlands IP would’ve been a good pickup for Microsoft, but for how long? Because we both know Duke Nukem and Battleborn aren’t doing anything.

The writing in Borderlands 3 made Borderlands 2 a Pulitzer prize winning master piece in comparison.

No worries, I’ll be giving it another chance at some point (had to drop it because the frame rate on my One X was unbearable at times).
I will say, I got further in 3 than Pre-Sequel (haven’t even left the moon).
Missing out on the Borderlands IP wasn’t a huge miss for Xbox imo though. Especially if Redfall ends up being solid.

There is another factor here to be considered, and that is that Xbox/Microsoft want nothing to do with any company that is systemically broken and horrific to its workers like Ubisoft, Activision, and others. I don’t think Embracer or Tencent have that same concern but I’d love to be wrong.
