Didn’t ACG say in the past MS was interested in Focus? Then it would cover many holes, IMO it’s a quality EU publisher and all their teams could make the AAA jump under Xbox.

I don’t know . But Focus only has started expanding after or around their recent rebrand from Focus Home to Focus Entertainment, maybe signalling other interests down the line as well. Like I wouldn’t at all be surprised if a Plague Tale show is being pitched, it fits the Television medium perfectly.

To me it’s the least wild and crazy out of other publishers people here wish for lol, Bethesda was already wild and crazy, Focus would be really good, while not Bethesda good, they could reach that level easily in the near future.

A year or so ago I would have said ehh Focus isn’t worth it, they just have a few studios, IP and largely just publish indie-AA stuff. Not that they weren’t good, but weren’t something to acquire, but now… Now the scene is very different and getting them before Embracer or Tencent fucking looms in would be wise all presuming they’re even for sale to begin with which doesn’t feel like what’s actually happening. Focus wants to grow big, and that might not necessarily be by getting acquired but growing as a publisher and even doing transmedia down the line.

Wouldn’t be surprised if they do get them. Several WH40K gameshave already been on GP, a new one (Darktide) is also launching day 1 next year. A whole new Total War Warhammer game too if I’m not wrong. Space Marine is very lauded and a 360 classic that no one saw a sequel coming for, MS should definitely try for that.

I think it’s that one, The Surge is one of the best souls-like over there, with proper AAA budget it can be even better than From games in some aspects, like polish or tech in general. XD

I honestly think Embracer will acquire Focus Entertainment, if anyone.
I don’t really see the value for Microsoft acquiring them. No major IP and not a huge talent pool, either. They seem like a solid B-game publisher, which is Embracer’s area of expertise.
I think IOI , Asobo and Avalanche believers should brace themselves .

To be frank though, originally back in 2018 they were acquiring pretty small studios, had Microsoft not acquired InXile, Obsidian, Undead Labs and Double Fine I could’ve easily have seen Embracer or Tencent acquiring them.

Nothing against a Focus Home acquisition here, though primarily because it’s pretty cheap. You’d be buying a couple mid level studios and a redundant publishing branch.
I could be off, but their in house development has basically been built by around 50+ million euro in acquisitions over the last couple years. You dont get too much buying them.
