Xbox Acquisition |OT4| It's Acquisition Season for Xbox with $69 Billion deal, NICE!

Could be a bit earlier like 2025 2026 but still along way out, don’t forget the Wonder Woman trailer from Monolith had no platform attached to it most likely taking offers for either full or timed exclusivity.

They just had a good re-release of Mass Effect which probably cost little and got them a lot of money and some trust back from fans.

A complation being the only hit from a major AAA studio situated in NA isnt a great sign.

You live in an alternate reality where there is no business sense

I’m still slightly annoyed about Capcom Vancouver’s closure since that was partially a three way blame contest.

Would’ve love to see the original project Xbox and Vancouver were working on before Dead Rising 4…. Or to maybe see something new come from XGS with them.

Alas…

They probably would only have been worthwhile if you could buy the Dead Rising IP, too.

Also remember around 2017/2018 there were big rumors that Microsoft was going to acquire the whole of Capcom, but Monster Hunter World and RE7 were big hits for them and stabilized their finances.

Yeah because your reality of Publishers just lending out workforces makes sense sure.

Keep at it Hindle.

It… literally happens in the industry every gen, and just happened a few months ago

Anyway, forming ties with Bioware for a project would be cool to me.

EA as a publisher is not in the exclusivity/studio-for-hire space. You can clearly see a very different approach to the likes of Square Enix or Sega.

If EA gets “tired” of them, they are probably just going to turn them in a support studio or close it up and distribute the employees to other studios.

Hiring gets harder and harder and workforce is a valuable resource, for a giant publisher like EA.

Considering now we know what are doing all WB studios outside NetherRealm (which is allegedly working at Injustice 3, if I’m not mistaken), I think it wouldn’t be a sensible get, the first Xbox game would be in 2025 at best (and that’s literally best case scenario, which never happens). XD

Jeff Grubb has explicitly stated NRS is likely working on MK12, because they are worried about being sold off and no longer having access to the DC licenses.

Short term there could be Injustice and Wonder Woman and whatever TT has in the pipeline. Additionally all the announced games could launch in GamePass.

Microsoft needs to think long term and if it’s now or never with WB, there is only one right answer for me.

Edit: Imagine Sony getting the deal, they would just cancel the Xbox versions. That would be a massive blow with a long term sting.

I personally. Think discovery will pass review and their purchase of wb will go through, i dont see anymore objections to it from the senate. wbi would be good…but theres a gillion developers out there. I just research stuff for fun but none of us know what is being negotiated, if you go offf all the possibilites…

Injustice is even more tied to DC, MK existed before being mixed with comics.

@Butters Now they are still merging with Discovery, MS and nobody else can do shit.

Can we skip the part of this discussion cycle where @hindle makes everyone mad by saying “if you can’t get the licenses, WB’s not worth it” and then we say “the talent is still worthwhile” and then someone says “talent can leave” and so forth. And @Knottian will hop in with a wry smile and pretend to know both nothing and everything at the same time. We’ve done this cycle tons of times.

WB fills all of Xbox’s gaps - mobile, 3rd person action, fighting, platformers, etc.

Microsoft knows this, and they’re smarter than us. If it’s a deal they can reasonably pursue, they will.
