Expect xbox to ramp up their library even more.
Every acquisition discussion will be ramped up and amped up. Particularly with pubs having a deep library.
The battle of the services will start soon.

Mixed feelings. Halo Infinite is so amazing. The franchise is in good hands with 343. But i love Bungie. They made my teenage years special and it would be one hell of a homecoming.
Also I know Phil said no more announcements at game shows. But if it was me I would be petty as hell and announce a big acquisition at the Game Awards after the Forza nomination debacle. Be a dick. Actually I wouldn’t but I would be tempted too lol.
lol so deamatic…you don’t think thar satya and gang knew this was in the works weeks ago? They have their informants.
I am sure they knew this would happen eventually but I don’t think they’re in under pressure to acquire studios. They currently are just acquiring if opportunities appear to them it feels.
You don’t think they will be ramped up. lol
Negotiations always take a long time. Doesn’t mean that ramping up of talks is not possible.
Though, MS does it in much more cleaner ways compared to what Facebiok did with Giphy, or how EA allegedly did with Bioware.
That does not feel urgent enough.
If I am doing strategy and tactics , I would accelerate it. Longish discussions are also not really great without any direction.
And if acquisitions take a long time, and your target is building Gamrpass, you need a Marvel and Lucasfilm moment that Disney had with Bob Eiger’s acquisitions – and ramp up few of the conversations that are near the final stage.
I absolutely agree with what Beastmode10 just said.
Microsoft needs to be more aggressive and possibly look at buying IP too, like Rifts from Palladium.
If Microsoft wants to be savage too they’d buy Larian Studios, Owlcat Games and Beamdog, then no company can take the RPG crown from Microsoft.
The point being all these acquisution discussions are super longish. Does not mean they cannot be accelerated given a much more crystal clear understanding of the competitive landscape.
You prepare strategy to go a certain way assuming that the landscape will take that form. If you do get positive evidence, would you continue at your current velocity, or do you choose to bring conversations that you have invested-in to turn faster in your favour?
There are time and people implications for every conversation, but the competitive landscape does not wait for such things too.
I don’t think that’s a good idea, just look at the frostbite shit show.
“Just don’t force it” - has to be the mantra, rather than “don’t use internal engines”. The problem with the Frostbite conversation is that it makes discussions too bipolar.
Snowdrop, Decima, ForzaTech, idTech, Fox, Anvil, RE engine, Dragon Engjne , CreationEngjne, etc-- all used successfully by their respective internal studios.
Use Unreal if you are comfortable, and use the newer engines if mastery is possible.
EA acquired Frostbite, and then mandated using of Frostbite - which was not necessary given Bioware’s distinct displeasure at using it.
Soooo I’m going to double down on the fact that Microsoft should, and probably will, stay away from Take 2 considering the recent It Takes Two news.
The trademark situation is nothing in the grand scheme of things. It’s not like Microsoft doesn’t have it’s fair share of controversies, for example the gold price hike or the Halo progression.
lol . Bethesda/Zenimax did the same shit to mojang . Guess xbox will never buy zenimax … OH WAIT !
Bethesda didn’t have a record of being scummy overall. Bigger picture. Also the social climate is much more sensitive now in the gaming industry. To your point though, gamers will probably forget about the infractions once a game they like comes out anyway lol.
disagree .
EA/Ubisoft/Activision are always on some scummy controversy and gamer rage™ and yet always are among the top selling games each year
Not a single billion dollar company can be that without being scummy lol
yup. I still remember bethesda being constantly at war with Modding communities , shutting down fan made projects , scummy microtransactions , lying about products ( nuka cola and that bag) and going after anyone for using words like " Elder" or “scrolls” . etc etc
That was 2013, right?
I think that was more of a defensive thing so that Take Two would not be beholden to any threat of action from the game. The game can still use its name and all that.
