So when do all the Tencent aquired studios start doing the “Maybe we should see other companies” ?
I’m waiting for a mass exodus to form the studio under a different name
I mean, companies HAVE to see what’s going on with Tencent and Netease to a certain extent and have to thinking about other options, be they Microsoft, Embracer or Sony at this point?
I was thinking same thing, the other day when i was watching a gravitas report. She was listing billionaires who under the chinese dictators reforms that were loosinh billions from them, tencent head was one of em over 10 billion lost. So off the top of my head, snail leave devs of ark for starters, xbox take em in i bet.
owners cash out to tencent
ride out whatever contract they sign during the sale
???
profit
I still see pearl abyss is on microsoft’s radar. In this article ign covers not just the game and their in house engine but a huge development center their building in s. Korea, and at the end lol he mentions the metaverse. DokeV and the Story Behind Pearl Abyss' Visually Impressive Engine - YouTube. - YouTube Pearl Abyss - Company Introduction Video - YouTube
In the past there was talks that Cliff Bleszinski, David Jaffe and Tomonobu Itagaki wanted to get back into video games and would it be smart for MS to partnership with them? Then if it works out acquire their companies.
Id support them for sure if they get to own the IP.
Jaffe… have you seen him on YouTube?
Itagaki… hasn’t released a decent game in like 10 years.
Why bring back retirement age dudes who aren’t even currently producing.
Igtachi has one so called bad game, the game had issues because of the wui version. They fixed it, but it was the wui was being discontinued. They switched itbto unrreal 3 and all and worked fine. It sold very well in jqpan, then the more recent one he was jjust an advisor, also it has like a 76 metacritic on xb1. After he left valhalla he went and taught gaming, he brought his students to his new studio … I think bring him on board.
Recently he produced that Samurai Jack game.
Let’s not forget good, old Peter Molyneux!
Jokes aside, I would only partner with them if they can pitch something substantial/interesting. And I don’t only mean just an idea, it has to be at least a demo. There are far more studios and people with more recent success, that are only a shell of their past. BioWare/Dice for example.
Xbox has something like 15 studios (that we know of) on lock through XGSP. It’s only a matter of time. There’s no need to go dumpster diving.
It’ll be a weird one, Xbox not famous among FGC actually it’s the least platform after PC, Switch & PS so why a world class fighting developer has to accept an offer from Xbox?
Regarding to KI, “if” Xbox interesting in the franchise? the best developer in my opinion is the core names in the reboot + the fans. Xbox can easily call former names in DH such filthierich and Adam Keits + Issac from IG in addition to some professional players ( F3|Sleep, UA|Bass, Rico Suave, Thompxson … etc ) and maybe Brandon Alexander from Ultra Arcade and hire them to build a brand new studio.
Weather the names are all available or not? Still building a fighting studio not a hard mission, important thing is the core team, the rest of jobs can be fitted with anyone.
I always think EA already acquired the studios that Xbox needed back then lol. Like BioWare, DICE, Pandemic Studios, Respawn Entertainment.
Respawn would have been doing wonders for XGS now
Dude you did not read what i wrote at all. He was advisor on it only, it scored 76 on metacritic for xbox.that is not a bad score for a game.
I know there are a lot of names that we are fond of from the past, but giving money to near retirement guys that haven’t been actively producing content to start new studios is simply not going to result in us getting the games they were making in their prime.
huh?? Who said it’s bad?
I was just adding to your post.
