Xbox Acquisition |OT4| It's Acquisition Season for Xbox with $69 Billion deal, NICE!

Im baffled by how much stock some people put to what xbox has done over the past few years into Minecraft. It completely disregards the hardware team, Phil and co and the other studios/partners that put in the work to be where its at right now which imo is much more than what Mojang and co have done (not saying they dont make money).

If anything Minecraft did was have an influence in pushing xbox to the forefront of Microsoft but saying it saved xbox is beyond me and I find it disrespect to all the studios that actually do work hard in the ecosystem.

I really doubt that moon studios will even consider the idea of being bought by xbox, they seem to prefer nintendo

Even this collection is only going to come to switch, they are treating ori as a nintendo franchise more, and the point that xbox is supporting this is dissapointing, atleast for me

Wait they are bringing this to switch and not Xbox? Wtf…

Pretty sure Ori the Collection is on the Xbox store that guy does not know what he is talking about

Edit: just check it is on the store lol that guy is totally wrong

All the work is now paying off for Phil and the crew. From this point on the “xbox has no games” is dead. Halo Starfield Forza MS Fable Red Fall Everwild The Outer Worlds 2 State of Decay 3 Hellblade 2 Project Mara Perfect Dark Avowed

Then we have new games from Compulsion, id, Machine Games, InXile, The Coalition etc. Crazy times ahead.

More work to do. Still massive holes in a lot of places and they have a lot of ambition to reach a lot of different people so there’s more work than just patching those holes, there’s becoming the industry leader in content in a few more spots.

  1. This is already on the Xbox storefront.

  2. This is a Microsoft owned IP. Would have to be cleared through them too.

  3. I don’t see how this would even relate to whether or not someone wants to be acquired.

I think they could obviously have a few more 3rd person adventure games in their portfolio, and I think they will address that need with further aquisitions. However, if we compare them to the other big publishers like Ubi, Activision and Take 2, MS have without doubt the most interesting stable of IPs. MS is allowing those smaller type games made by the likes of Compulsion and Double Fine to make qwerky games that a company like Ubi wouldn’t even entertain. They have the WRPG, shooter and racing genre stitched up, and also have a place for those lesser more experimental type of games like Project Mara. It’s just one genre that they don’t have a heap of games in.

It’s not enough to be compared to other big publishers. The goal is to reach billion of gamers and to do that they’ve got to flip the industry on its head with gamepass and xcloud. To do that they need exclusive diversity of content everywhere.

They really need to be batting right with Nintendo on e rated content, batting with Sony on action games and providing innovative new live service and cloud based games to get where they want to be.

With an Ori collection coming to the Switch is a good thing to help make the IP worth more.

I know not everyone is the same, but I know many people that own a PlayStation system and a Switch, but don’t own a Xbox system.

So this can be used as a way to get those people hooked on that game, then in the future if they want to play the sequel, they’ll need to buy a Xbox system.

Or they can wait for the switch version, people where saying the same thing with the will of the wisps and it came to switch so fast

And then you have the news of banjo(and other rare ips) coming to switch online aswell several nintendo fans asking for games like mcc or even saying that a banjo remake should definitely need to be on switch, I know this is not the right place to talk about this so I will stop with it but thats my opinion of how this friendship have been going so far

hmmmm what if hmmmm Microsoft acquires Marvelous for the Story of Seaons?

Does that series sell anymore? I know quality-wise the fans aren’t happy.

I agree 100% and I’ve always thought a 3-year cadence would be perfect for the racing franchises generally.

Kart / car combat / Road Rash-style violence racer would all be fine options.

Everyone is talking about Forza Kart but how the heck would you make a Forza game about luxury cars into a kart racer. Like visually how would that even look.

Not only that MS majority of IPs don’t have the cartoony nature that makes MK look good as a kart racer.

You know how weird it would be to see Master Chief in a kart, next to Marcus Fenix in a kart, next to Quantum Break guy in a cart. You don’t even have to imagine this, just look at PS All Stars. Visually that game just had too many realistic characters that didn’t mash well the few cartoon like characters like Parappa.

If anything MS should make a Forza Metal game. It should take elements from games like Twisted Metal, Burnout, Blur, Split Second, and make it a real arcade racer. And by Arcade Racer I mean real Arcade Racer. Horizon is still a simulator. If you can’t ram into other cars it’s not an arcade game, and Horizon fans get upset when you ram into their cars in races.

My dream game is a playground developed gta style open world game. I think that could be something truly special. the world would be incredible.

Minecraft is a major reason why Xbox is still around. The value in the IP convinced Nadella to trust in Phil. The acquistion is probs amongst the best thats ever been seen

what would minecraft be valued at now, any idea?

Roblox is over 35bn. That should be a comparable figure.
