I’m in .
Warner without IP’s is still worth it. Studios like Netherrealm, TT games and Rocksteady are hella talented, so I would love to see them not weighted down with IP’s that have been overdone to hell.
I was comparing a Warner game studio buy to Take two buy . Warner with IP > Take two . Warner without IP < Take two .
With Phil Spencer saying that Microsoft wants more casual game studios I wonder if Bohemia Interactive is the way to go.
Now before you say they aren’t a casual developer I’d have you take a look at their game Ylands.
Ylands so far is only on PC, but I can imagine Microsoft porting it to Xbox One and Xbox Series X.
This series has the potential to blow up and become another Minecraft like success or Roblox.
If Microsoft gets that studio they’d also get the Arma engine, which could be used for Game Stack too.
I also think Krome Studios is someone that would be a smart choice, they made the party game Scene It for the Xbox 360 and worked on Viva Pinata in the past too. Maybe they could even be the one to bring back 1 vs 100 or a game like that.
With that studio you get a company that knows how to make party games, plus Platformers also and that is what Phil Spencer was saying they need, so I think they should work out.
They can go after Pearl Abyss with DokeV
They got that covered, it seems.
The one that got away
If they wanted them they would have gotten them. Remedy ain’t worth it in my opinion.
The entire article Zaslav just goes on a Streaming this, Streaming that. Not a single mention of their gaming assets. And nothing is sacred, it seems – to be sold.
Xbox needs to get wb gaming off their hands, and get a longish exclusive license negotiated separately from DC, Tolkien Estate (LoTR), Rowling Estate (Harry Potter) and LEGO.
Seeing what embark is doing Microsoft should really invest in Sweden.
I mean besides Mojang.
besides MachineGames?
But seriously - I would hope for IOI, Avalanche and even Remedy – in the Sweden/Denmark/Finland region.
Remedy is always worth it.
It is just about whether they still have the right chemistry together - and I think, they still can work together.
Forgot about them, you are right!
I hope Xbox can strengthen the partnership with Remedy again. They should already wait in line to publish the games after the already funded ones are done.
The funded ones are for an Epic exclusive. Which is OK. Does not stop console exclusivity, but will hurt pc sales in the short term.
Xbox has money that Remedy will absolutely be thrilled to have, expect Xbox doesn’t want to give it to them again. They take so much time and money and make commercial failures with unfulfilled potential, all the time.
They are one studio which is a small delta away from being a great one.
And so is Crytek
They need to make games that sell and are complete if they want to make games that are expensive and take long times to make.
Their games have great potential and cool ideas, executed at surface level. Every single one of them was always like that. What you play in your first 2-3 hours is all they have to offer. They made games with Rockstar, Microsoft, 505… All of them had similar design and commerical issues. Eventually they gotta admit it’s their fault and not the market or publishers.
The WB thing is a mess, until the merger with Discovery isn’t completed I think the assets are locked down, when they sold the mobile studio to EA many shareholders complaines, it’s extremely shady and bordeline illegal doing that during a merger, because it changes the value of the transaction.
Outside financial stuff, it’a abundantly clear MS is wary of lice sed stuff outside dlcs, so, who knows…
That’s on pc gamers, the irrational refusal of anything it’s not Steam is almost a meme now, it’s not like you have to buy another pc to play the game. XD
Don’t know if Tim Epic would agree with that tbh. He isn’t exactly best friends with Microsoft.
