I would love a massive support studio like that to help the existing studios meet targets, and this studio has varied and directly relevant experience.
Teams approaching them is a great sign of how working under Xbox studios has got so much more attractive under the current management than it was in the past.
Well, MS is literally giving blank checks to its studios. No wonder people come to them.
Except Japanese developers of course Eiyuden Chronicle studio is the only exception I believe.
Need a JRPG PLEASE
Massive resources/support/tech, a great team of other talented studios to collaborate with and creative freedom. That is a winning pitch.
There is still a huge bridge to gap, outside multibillion dollar publishers, which are only moved by greed and alliances, middle sized devs and indies could be still skeptical and rightly so, MS commitment over japanese dev scene has been on a roller coaster these last 20 years, constant ups and downs, and for them it means bankrupt if a project would fail. With time they’ll come, I’m way less lenient with greedy huge corporations (like when you hear SE has not enough resources for a port, lmao).
In Japan, at most for now MS can rely only on Game Pass or some time deal - much less on anything exclusive exactly for the reasons you stated. Only massive acquisition there will move the needle.
Thats why they need someone like sega
Thanks for sourcing that! I’m very impressed with what she had to say and Microsoft’s overall long term strategy.
i think xbox considers master chief their mascot, he says xbox and looks fighting ready lol
I know people want take2 but it would be nice to throw all the money at Dan Houser’s new company and get his first game as an exclusive instead. Probably way cheaper that way and most likely will be the better game than GTA6. Have no father in rockstar without him there
I mean, T2 acquisition would single-handledly cripple PS dominance in NA and EU, it would be a huge deal. People outside hardcore bubble wouldn’t care much about a new IP with the label “from the creator of GTA”. Yeah, cool, but the real deal is GTA itself.
After Zenimax, imo Xbox is only one publisher short of cracking the status quo in a lasting way.
well we have out there casey hudson and also mike laidlaw ex old good bioware lets get them on board in some way, they are well experienced in narrative triple a rpg games and have started their own studios.
The reason why Microsoft might not buy T2 is because they’re having quality issues on their big titles, GTA DE is getting a lot of flak, not unless they decide to take on a massive management change and etc, it seems that Ghost Story games would be the studio they would target.
As i’ve said in other threads, Microsoft doesn’t tend to buy the popular guy on the front, they tend to buy the ones no one are looking at, Zenimax was a popular case because they have a long story with a diverse catalog and were just starting to have issues, while Take Two is bleeding key talent out of Rockstar with barely any titles and NBA 2K has now become a meme whose only purpose is to sell as long there are people willing to get a MTX half assed experience, their in house diversity is zero as they rely on external developers who publish under 2K or Private Division to fill in, and these developers owns the IPs.
I can’t think much of an american big publisher who owns studios and IPs, even Ubisoft would be a more of a candidate.
This take on take 2 is wild. It takes time to make big games and GTA7 is certainly one of them. Anything that’s come out is a rumor.
They’ve been putting out very solid content recently with RDR2. Firaxis is also phenomenal studio. They also have put out solid civilization games. They’re working on a brand new Bioshock. They put of a great title in mafia 3 and likely have mafia 4 on the way.
On top of all of that, they are publishing games left and right, they have something like 90 games they’re publishing over the next 5 years.
As a power play that’d put Playstation on its knees Take 2 + GTA exclusivity is the way to go. But that move is far from the best in terms of value for xbox players. R* is the goldmine but they take longer and longer to make games.
It just depends on what they’re looking for. I think they should just find something that’d please players but also help xbox in the competition they’re having with Sony. To me, that’s Warner.
Warner with IPs ? Sure 100% . Warner without IPs ? Na .
@beastmode10 Did you read that WB-Discovery link I sent you ? There was some really interesting stuff in there .
I would like to remind that Bethesda’s quality issues were legendary.
With exclusive rights for the ips for the next 10 years or so.
