Isn’t it also kind of a a passion project for the Founder? I think that if they get to many employees it’s going to be a harder to sell.
Because I was unbanned
Well all i know is that it owned now by one of them since they bought gearbox the owner of the IP lol
You don’t need T2 if you own the IP. Like Outer Worlds doesn’t need other publisher rather than Microsoft who owns the IPs.
But they do that like saying MS does not own Elder Scrolls or Fallout since Bethesda Softworks is publishing it lol
That been proven fale already Gearbox owns the IP and they got bought up so the parent company of Gearbox now also owns the IP even if 2k take two will be publishing the game. That is the same thing as like i mention before that Rise of Tomb Raider IP own by Squre published by MS same with Sunset Overdrive and many other lol
I don’t know who owns the IP and I’m not going to pretend to. But I would guess at the very least, there is a strict contractual obligation that gives T2 the option to publish every future Borderlands franchise.
I would bet that’s what scared off the most potential buyers including Microsoft.
I dug around and it seems Gearbox doesn’t fully own it.
I think it was more Randy
Gearbox owns the IP that im sure of but the Publishing rights and other stuff is still with 2K Take Two. So if Embracer whats publishing rights would have to buy it away from Take Two same way MS bought the Publishing rights to The Outer Worlds franchise.
So you are agree that Gearbox doesn’t fully own Borderlands IP?
But they do fully own the IP the publishing rights is different.
CURSED IMAGE.
Semantics. The fact is that Gearbox cannot do whatever it wants with Borderlands IP without T2 involved one way of another.
But they can if the parent company of Gearbox, Embracer bought the rights to the publishing deal same way Microsoft bought the rights to the publishing deal of The Outer Worlds from Take Two same thing. But since Embracer probably does not want to spend any more money they can just let Take Two Publish the next Borderlands game.
MS can do whatever they want with Street Fighter if it bought Capcom. My point was that Gearbox doesn’t - ok fully - own Borderlands IPs so argument that Embracer owns is false. “Buy Embracer for Gearbox and they additionally pay for IP?”.
Embracer is not worth it. Plain and simple.
They are so expensive because their profits are immense. They make more profits from mobile games than some game publishers. I bet a single Candy Crush game generates profits rivalling Resident Evil despite being cheap to make.
Again but they do fully own the IP as the publishing rights is a different thing all together. Why are you mixing the owning of the IP to the Publishing rights there have been many cases of things like this where the owner of the IP have a different company than their parent company publish the game it is not a rare thing it happns all the time does not mean they don’t own the IP lol
Because from my definition is that you own IP if you own IP and publishing rights.
