I just think they’re a prime acquisition target for multiple companies at this point.
They do support work.
They own and run, arguably, the biggest asymmetrical multiplayer game on the planet with Dead by Daylight
They work with multiple license holders to get characters, which makes them a prime target due to how huge some of those characters are (I especially believe Netflix would be interested)
They’re a huge Canadian team that also ported a mobile version of DBD, so they have experience on mobile platforms too
DBD is consistently a heavy hitter on Game Pass and (iirc) it’s been on it for years.
QA is honestly their biggest issue which is hugely important for competitive MP games. So even with the problems they have now, DBD is still huge.
I would say they’re biggest issue is that sometimes the heads come off a little “we know better than you” to the community, but sometimes I’d argue it’s warranted.
I also recall Bethesda having a dispute with Behaviour/WB over a Westworld mobile game or something, so that’s at least some history.
Sony made predatory deals with years ago that resulted in their IP. Not any better for gaming. They continue to do the same practice. At least with Microsofts practice the studios gain value and get a nice pay day at the end of the day.
