Wouldn’t it make more sense to keep the teams you have to be support studios rather than selling them, then hiring support studios/more staff after?
Just seems like a redundant step imo.
If the studios dont want to be support, and they want to still make AAA games, SE are in a place where they will be forcing them, and that’s always a bad look. Better to set them free, like they did IOI

See, just because that’s what you and I believe doesn’t mean that’s what Square believes.
I’d love to see Square’s western side go to someone who’ll take better care of them. I just don’t trust them to allow that unless they’re getting a huge payday out of it.
And even then, Square might not be so willing to split with some of those IP.

The studios and IP tick every single box for a MS acquistion, like every one. Phil.Spencer has always wanted an Uncharted style game as well, so I think he will buy Tomb Raider to fill the void.
Nadellas comments about wanting IP, all points to an acquisition happening.
I think SE sell as they just cant deal with another ten years of games underperforming.

Hindle the new studio was finished this year,does not look like se is plannng to aell them when their expanding their branches
