Xbox Acquisition |OT3| 100% Organic Growth

Yeah… it’s only surprising for people who haven’t paid attention to the tone used for Sony over the past decade, or for the few willfully ignorant to the fact that the media by-and-large has an overwhelming bias towards Sony. For those that say “well they’re the market leader”… that ain’t it, certainly wasn’t the case during the 360 gen.

Maybe CDPR+Bungie+Kojima Productions+IO+Remedy, but IDK if it would actually have a bigger impact than Bethesda.

There’s not 1.

I would say:

  1. IO Interactive
  2. PlatinumGames
  3. Bungie
  4. CD Projekt Red
  5. Game Freak

If we’re not counting studios that have acquired someone else, then remove CDPR and GF, then add Kojima Productions and probably Harmonix.

Not sure if I’d say it’d be bigger than Zenimax, but that’s the closest I can think of.

Remedy, IOI, Bunjie, Avalanche, Kojima, and Arc maybe?

Not sure if Platinum is up there now, they have been pretty badly mismanaged since the Scalebound thing. I’d say that Larian, Remedy and Kojima Productions would be bigger than Platinum.

I enjoyed reading this - and watching the reaction video, but this is not a great take.

As much as I love those 2018 studios and am optimistic about their future, they do not stack up to the Zenimax studios - especially at the time of the acquisitions.

The quality at the top of each batch is similar (though I think Zenimax still has the edge), but the Zenimax acquisition has more quality depth.

  • Bethesda > Playground (if we want to be generous we can call this a toss-up)
  • id > Ninja Theory (again, call it a toss up if you want but that would be really generous to NT)
  • Arkane > The Initiative (due to no track record if nothing else)
  • Machine Games > Undead Labs
  • Tango Gameworks > Compulsion
  • Plus throw in Zenimax Online, Alpha Dog, and Roundhouse just for fun

Nah, I’d say Platinum with proper direction is a force to be reckoned with. I would really love to know what’s going on with Bayonetta 3… because some Platinum employees made it sound like they’re waiting on Nintendo.

We haven’t seen anything about Bayonetta since 2017 Game Awards, Babylon’s Fall looks bad and they cancelled a major project(Scalebound). I wouldn’t add Platinum in the list of the 5 biggest independent studios.

We’ll have to agree to disagree friendo.

I’m just saying that outside of Game Freak, Platinum is probably the most prominent independent Japanese studio out there. Kojima could catch up if his next game or two are still solid releases.

If Big Phil rolled out this lineup during the E3 of Dreams that 2022 should be it would bring down the house.

In announced order: Super Giant, IO Interactive, Bluepoint Games, Kojima Productions, Bungie

So…. Let’s just pretend Xbox acquired Game Freak…

This, in turn, would give Microsoft partial ownership of the Pokémon series. Do you think they’d do dual releases on both Nintendo and Xbox platforms then?

What about Blue Box? Lol

Man, I’d have to abandon Xbox at that point to support the underdog Sony.

That’d be bigger than Take Two and Activision-Blizzard at once!

Pokemon is owned by Nintendo, Gamefreak and Creatures Inc. Each one owns 33% of the Pokémon company. Nintendo also has an undisclosed amount of stakes on Creatures Inc.

IO, Asobo, SuperGiant, Kojima, Remedy and additionally Avalanche.

Make a new Xbox arm for these like XGS and Bethesda.

This would indeed make the scenario even more interesting.

I’m sure Nintendo has something in place though.

Maybe in another worldline!

We’d reach Steins;Gate!
