Yeah feeling like taking another sabbatical of 2000 messages. Will return later to see how much wilder it’s gotten or worse, stuck in the same cycle lol.

Not really you can say that to almost any new and upcoming dev that made a ok to good game that like 10’s to hundreds of them types of devs though. Should Xbox look to buy every one of them i don’t think so.

Its a small team that made a good game with limited resources and would probably cost pennies to acquire. No reason not to acquire and grow them.

Nope.

You don’t want to buy out a studio in geopoltical hotzones like Ukraine.

Could you imagine if somebody Russia decides “Hey, I’d like that back please” and then you Microsoft employees trying to flee an international incident?

And I don’t think you can compare Moon to Neon because Moon has proven their quality while for me Neon still needs to.

I just don’t think Neon is such an exceptional case that some seem to think they are. Yes they have some promise but their first game was not exactly a home run, hence why I said it might be more prudent to form a more formal partnership and see how their second game turns out.

Ukraine, China, Russia, Taiwan, those are geopoltical hotzones that Microsoft would probably avoid despite all the great amount of talent there.

Keep them, lower the prices. Launch GTA 6 on Xcloud and 10 billion devices and watch the cash flow for eternity!!

Like i said if you do that than why stop there you would have to buy all the other dev that made 1 good game too right as you can also grow them too as you put it. My point is it not feasible and not worth the time and effort.

If they go after independent studios, they must have valuable IPs or something really special in development, other than that I don’t see any reason behind acquiring small and independent studios.

I mean, they are a developer that made one good game and already have a good relationship with MS. That is different than buying every developer that made one good game.

Though i wouldnt be mad at them buying the folks behind Death’s Door either.

Again it not worth it to just buy 1 Indie dev with 1 or 2 ok to good game hoping they can grow and become bigger why not let them do that on their own until they have proven more than buy them cause you might buy them now and they never make anything good or worthwile ever again.

i can count like 20 indie dev that has made 1-2 ok to good game it is not worth it to buy them just for that to be honest.

Just curious, have you played The Ascent?

No not yet backlog is to huge playing Motorsport 7 now since i have gamepass and it about to be delisted trying to finish it up first. Anyways what does that have to do you make it seem that The Ascent is a 10/10 game or something it a 8/10 game at most and i heard it has many problems and stuff.

It is a game dripping with “if this team only had more resources”. Which is why their name comes up in these discussions.

Because you run the risk of someone else coming or the price getting too high

Idk Mojang made 1 game, Undead Labs, Compulsion games, Playground has only made Horizon and Xbox gave them fable, etc.

Mojang was already a big monster size behemoth of a company/dev when Xbox bought them don’t put Mojang in this lol

Well ok you have a point there but i don’t think Xbox will buy them just yet. Xbox can just give them money to make more games and put it on Gamepass day 1 like Ascent.
