Man the Witcher IP alone enough to turn heads

How do we know they have no interest in the film/movie industry though? Apple who is similar to Microsoft in the way in which they move (phone/software/computers/gaming/etc) has recently started their own streaming service and producing their own shows. How do you know if Microsoft hasn’t been looking for away to break into the industry? Owning Warner Bros would be a good start and could boost the value of Gamepass by adding Hbomax and DC Comics/games to the fold.

No experience? Well, they didn’t have that much experience with the gaming industry before the first Xbox release, yet now we were here talking about their 4th consoles.

The only issue I have with the WB purchase, is the AT&T side, but like Google, what is stopping Microsoft from venturing into cellular service? The only reason the Windows Phones are no longer around is because Google would not support the Windows App store – but I think in recent years, they have had a change of heart.

Point is, we cannot say what Microsoft is or is not interested in since they seem to be unpredictable at the moment in their ventures.

Also, the DC movies/shows/games/comics are big enough to warrant a look if they go up for sale again. Imho, DC IPs are more interesting than Marvel. Could you imagine a Watchmen or a Constantine game?

We still talking buying WB? this thread is madness, please stop, its not happening and it’s an area that MS has shown little to no interest in and likely has little to no experience in

WB games makes sense, all of WB makes absolutely none

The thread is based on speculations…we can discuss whomever …

I reckon every time @Knottian checks this thread the music from Doom plays

Sure you can, doesn’t stop it from being completely disconnected from reality

Anything is possible after the Zenimax purchase. Money talks.

No, no it isn’t, the Zenimax deal was massive but it’s completely busted any sense of reality and common sense in here

Lol I used to comment on this thread but nowadays I just read through to see some really hot takes XD

Gamepass has PSNow, EAOrigin, BlizzardNet and UPlay as its competitors, with Tencent and Embracer both being theorized to launch their own eventually.

I would argue TV streaming services are like TV channels. Whereas Gaming is a more commitment oriented subscription since ppl spend more hours in a game on an average compared to a tv service.

I don’t think this is an either-or question like how the discussion in this thread is shaping up. Gamepass and TV Streaming are orthogonal services.

If viewed that way - Sony has PSNow, Sony LIV, Crunchyroll and Funimation besides traditional cable TV Channels. Sony is already competing with Netflix and Disney on the tv streaming side of things.

The scale is pretty different. These services aren’t anywhere near the size of Gamepass. EA Play even merged with Gamepass and there are big rumors about Uplay doing the same.

Also how is Blizzard net a gamepass competitor? Blizzardnet is a storefront, Gamepass is a subscription service.

Gamepass is the leader in it’s market by a landslide and still has lots of room to grow without any relevant competitors at the moment(gamepass “competitors” like EA play are literally joining the service). If they spent 130 billion in WB they would enter the movie subscription market in 4th or 5th place with major competitors like Netflix and Disney. It’s simply now worth it.

Microsoft doesn’t need to do everything that Sony does. Sony makes TV’s, that doesn’t mean that Microsoft’ has to buy Samsung to compete with Sony on the TV market lol.

They looked at TikTok and Discord recently, both mega money. That shows the direction Microsoft want to go. Social media presence and the tech that comes with it, particularly in Discords case.

I’d put my house on it, they are not looking at buying a massive Film/TV company.

Newsflash. Microsoft buying the TV manufacturing arm off Samsung to put Xcloud on TV’s…

Also looking at the mobile phone division, to tie up with the future deal for AT&T as they are buying Warner Brothers. :joy:

If dream of having hyper interactive animated immersive monthly story series games from IPs under WB. Not the regular games but similar to House of medan like games.

They will adjust well with a subscription service and I want it to be Gamepass exclusive only. Producing such experiences would be inexpensive and less time taking. Once the have got on hold of this they ramp up production and hire studios which expertise in these fields.

Imagine having movies from the world of skrim, Halo, awoved, batman and what not. These movies will be a great PR for xbox game pass as well and other reason to have Gamepass. If people can’t find time to play games they will surely love watching movies of there games.

And with time… They can add there Cloud games to this category as well.

All that I have said but it’s not likely to happen any time soon. Just wishful thinking.

Going to lay it out there, the silence is probably good news

If they were buying indies, they would be announcing them left and right. If they were buying IO/Crytek/Avalanche and other studios of that size, they would save them for an event

I believe Microsoft is going after another publisher. Maybe more than one.

What did he say?

Lets not do this again.

Just mentioned that it was a rumor in the industry it was for sale back in February.

He said he heard a long time ago that Take Two would be the next publisher to be acquired. Doesn’t sound like it was necessarily connected to MS, just maybe that they are/were open to acquisition.

Edit: I guess February isn’t long ago, dunno why he said that lol.
