My original thought was around then as well, but with all the recent statements from MS leadership I decided that they might have something ready within the next 6 months.
My Crack pot theory as to why we havnt got any new acquisitions even though Satya and Phil have hinted more are coming is because they decided to go big on one particular acquisition. If Apple, Amazon and Google are their rivals and not Sony and Nintendo then they have to look at what their real rivals are doing. Apple and Amazon are finding great success with their streaming services. Google has YouTube. All of these video services have subscription levels that produce the type of revenue Microsoft wants. I’m thinking they’re dropping the big bucks, like 75 to 100 billion and buying all of wb post merger. This will give the. HBO max and discovery to use to create a video subscription service of their own. They say they want its? No one else available would come close.
WB Games might happen but the entirety of Warner Bros? No way. Microsoft has shown no interest and has almost 0 experience with the already saturated movies subscription market.
MS should focus on Gamepass, a service that has literally 0 competitors at the moment, instead of trying to enter in the oversaturated movie market against competitors with much more movie making expertise than Microsoft.
Absolutely agree on the no-go on the entirety of Warner Bros. If Microsoft was truly that interested in dipping into the movie space, I would’ve thought they’d be interested in going after Vudu and having that replace their movies and tv space.
Just seems like too much of a headache for multiple new endeavors for Microsoft (movies, comics, etc.).
i chose the January - March because big xbox titles are kinda going to be missing till like the summer like this year has been so i figured they do that to have something happen during those months but that is just me and i’m not talking about the games about to be released like FH5 and Halo.
I can see MS going after the entire WB games division, especially if Discovery have no interest in keeping it after the merger but all of WB isn’t happening
