Xbox Acquisition |OT2| Something, Something, Snowball Effect

Idk Casey all name just like Jade Raymond and hasnt really been involved with anything since 2013.

Can anyone tell me why ea is valued so high? I’d think 5-10 billion just by looking at them

I’m guessing is because of the sports franchises

Ultimate Team is a machine that prints billions for them. ALso I am sure they make a ton of money from microtransactions from Apex Legends, and possibly battlefield 2042

Not Xbox Acquisition news but things are heating up in the gaming stream wars. I expect Netflix to make some acquistion to booster their new gaming venture. That means that MS will respond and we might get Acquistion news faster.

Can Netflix actually MAKE acquistions? Like they’re super duper billions in debt.

It would be better to partner with somebody and bring game on that way in exchange for licensing some of the key IPs like Stranger Things and… uh… Stranger Things…

Yes they can. You can be in debt and still make acquistions i think it has more to do with their market value than the actual money they have on hand. Who can they partner with it won’t be with Xbox since Xbox got their own service in Gamepass i think they will try and make their own.

Netflix going for game streaming means MS might need to be more swift towards acquisitions.

Nah way.

Bundle XGPU with Xcloud on Netflix then ask Netflix to allow to use the Stranger Things IP for games.

Have a GamePass portal on Netflix.

Easy peasy.

Don’t think this changes anything.

Maybe, maybe not. Either way, #ItsAcquisitionSeason

If Netflix is making their own game streaming service than no way will they let Xbox put gamepass on there it will eat away at their own service.

IMHO don’t just get the DC IPs and the Lord of the Rings stuff. GO WHOLE HOG get all the “IPs”. Cartoon Network, HBO, WB, hell even Food network.

I said this before Google has Youtube, Amazon has Amazon Prime, why doesn’t Microsoft have a non-interactive streaming media content service?

Hey Satya, help Warner Discovery with their debt and own a share of full rights to the streaming business and IPs on Microsoft Products. This could be a better investment than TICTOC.

Warner MS Discovery?

MS should take the chance and buy WBG on 2022 before netflix starts their run on the VG stream wars

I don’t think MS wants to enter Hollywood, it’s a much lesser profitable endeavour than enterprise software and videogames with the added malus of media exposition, even more than games and we know that MS is wary of these things.

All of that is just PR disasters too.

He was working on HoloLens for a few of those years but he 100% deserves benefit of the doubt after his work at BioWare before the EA takeover.

I wasn’t looking at it as a profit maker only as a vehicle to access an enormous amount of IPs with one deal. I would expect Microsoft NOT to have any input on the day-to-day dealings with the TV and Movie streaming, leave that to Discovery. The play would only be for all the content without licensing issues.

The entirety of WBIE, including Playdemic, was being shopped around for ~4 billion USD and this was considered too high by multiple buyers in 2020.

The price of a studio is not based on it’s number of staff. Playdemic was a highly successful mobile studio, with one of the top grossing mobile games of the last few years, and the rights to that game were sold along with them.

The price of studios that don’t own IP or have a back catalogue of games associated with the sale is very small, closer to the tens or hundreds of millions of dollars.

Netherrealm + Mortal Kombat IP would be the most expensive chunk of any sale, because the MK IP could probably also fetch 1+ billion USD in association with the developer. However, TT without Lego would not be worth a similar amount. The lego licence isn’t WB’s to sell - so the price wouldn’t be factored into the sale.

I’d estimate maybe 1.5-2 billion at most for MK IP + Netherrealm + TT + back catalogue of games for those studios, assuming they even have the rights to allow the transfer of the back catalogue of lego games in the first place. If they can’t transfer the old lego games to Microsoft, then closer to the 1.5 billion mark would be my guess.

(I don’t believe the sale is happening anyway lol)
