Heard Microsoft may be acquiring this small indie company named Sony. It’s a real obscure acquisition, I know, but my sources have told me that this is indeed true. This may seem like a joke post given the context of previous posts, but I can guarantee that I am being 100% serious here.

All this acquisition talk is fun and all, but y’all need to relax. We know they are buying studios. The announcements are a question of WHEN at this point.

My sources are telling me that Microsoft are in advance stages of negotiations for the acquisition of the entirety of Japan. They should hopefully announced it by the end of the year.

Some may think that’s absurd, but Microsoft has a market cap larger than the GDP of Canada.
What’s really absurd is having access to hundreds of games and day 1 releases for only $9.99/month and if you’re new you can even get 3 months right now for only $1!

How exactly do you have access to this information?
I’ve been a cheerleader for something completely un-rumoured for a while: their buying the Thunderful group.
Image and Form are making (apparently) a true exclusive in the Gunk. Tonnes of games from the other outfits like Coatsink and Zoink and indies published through them have launched on Game Pass over the past few years, with a couple more announced this summer.
It also has a strategic element – they can continue to operate as an indie publisher but one with a direct route into Game Pass and can play a role curating Indie content for the service. Alongside their own games they could provide a steady flow of indie games into the service that would run itself.
Only complication is their business as a toy distributor (and distributor of Nintendo hardware!) in the Nordic countries. MS may have no interest in any of that, and it’s not clear you could get the gaming side without the distribution side.
Still, if Image & Form could be extracted piece meal, though, that would still be a good buy. Thought Steam World Dig games were amazing and I have a lot of faith in them to deliver with the Gunk.
So we have an indie studio being acquired next week and the entirety of Warner Brothers game studios. Got it.
I believe the indie one, not the one about wb.

Such a shame that S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 won’t be a game from Xbox Game Studios – Publishing and it’s just short timed exclusive…

They simply didn’t bother after Bastion, now they “returned” thanks to Game Pass, like a lot of indies.

On that. I actually think they pulled the Hellblade video and put it in the later show, after people started complaining in advance that they had better see gameplay or they will be mad.
