I think the only thing that makes sense for $20b would be Valve, they are still a private company, about 12 billion market cap? Speculation that Newell may want to retire/stay in NZ?
With the way the whole gaming market is over inflated right now, $20b seems possible?
I just don’t see any other private company that would be worth that much, and if it was an acquisition of a public company certainly there would be more concrete chatter leaked?
Microsoft was able to keep the acquisitions of publicly traded companies LinkedIn ($26B) and Nuance ($19B) quiet until they were formally announced. There are other examples of acquisitions they pursued like Pintrest and Salesforce that leaked, but I’d say there’s no hard and fast rule that any exploration of a publicly traded company acquisition has to leak.

Here is another one let’s say Square-Enix wants to sell off their Europe division with the IP, so:

IP: Tomb Raider, Deus Ex, Just Cause, Life is Strange, Thief, Legacy of Kain, Gex
Is that worth $7b In an over inflated gaming market? Enough for SE to sell it?
There have been rumors that MS is chasing IP
Seems steep to me, but who knows in this market right now?

I think we can put the avalanche rumour to rest. In my understanding, it came to light bc someone saw the contraband trailer and confused the “xbox game studios” logo as a confirmation that they’re part of it now.

If i was xbox i wouldnt buy square west by itsself. If you cant get the entirety of square then buying just west is just not worth it at all, since the more popular IP is on the japanese side.

Certainly the big three are Silent Hill, Castlevania & Metal Gear Solid
How much would it take to convince Konami to sell?
Although with the latest rumor of Bloober being involved in SH project, it seems unlikely MS would be purchasing SH IP.
Again not sure that all those IP even in an inflated market are worth $1b

Yeah, there are countless examples of big deals that were kept under wraps even from Microsoft. Heck, even the Zenimax deal was kept under wraps until very late in the process.
Once a big deal has been agreed though, Microsoft does have to announce it ASAP, which is what Phil mentioned on his appearance on Unlocked.
If he was congratulating sony why would he feel the need to delete the tweet? Phil has congratulated sony many times.

At this point I think everything is possible, it hurts to think of outcomes.
Alot of American companies are off Monday because of holiday. I doubt we see news on Monday.

The LinkedIn acquisition was even crazier based MS, Saleforces and Google competing for acquisition. Nothing leaked and the first the market know of it was MS suspending trading on their company 30mins before the announcement.
