Maybe Xbox and MS talk about intending to grow further was more of a way to reassure that they are willing to in the future since everyone else is on a shopping spree now rather than MS actually having anything in the works.
But they haven’t shown that they want to move on from wanting to sell PS5 hardware first. Until they have a service like Gamepass or start releasing day one on PC nothing has changed. I’m not saying Nixxes will not do PC ports, just that they won’t be day one ports of their big hitters.
Having SSM make a God of War PC Port takes time and resources away from the studio. They don’t want to outsource them anymore after HZD port fiasco, so you buy the best PC port team in the business to make the PC Port, charge 60 bucks then hope the people that loved GOW on PC buy GOW:R on PS5.
Only acquiring teams they have a deep relationship with lasted all of 2 days.
“According to Katsmans in an interview in 2011, the company does not aim to develop in-house, as Katsman has no passion for game design and sees his focus on technical service.”
But sure now the team without a passion for game design will start making games.
That’s not what I would take away from Satya, Phil, Matt, and Aaron’s statements at all… usually statements like those precede imminent closures; see Satya’s statements in August followed by September Bethesda announcement. I keep telling you all that these things take time, and while there is a certain point where things have to be made public by Microsoft, they have plenty of wiggle room on when to announce. Think of E3 2018 when they announced all five studios on stage… do you think those all happened to wrap up neatly within a couple days’ window?
Jim Ryan would have taken the green option in Mass Effect 3…after saying he believed in the Red one
I sanitized my message from the other day but this proves without a doubt that you can take any statement from a Sony exec and expect the opposite.
I just wanted them acquired to work on something similar to the White Knight Chronicles exclusively for Xbox… Bringing the best out of them with a AAA JRPG like that would have been something most feel the Xbox is in need of. I bet they probably could have done something cool with Lost Odyssey as well. Glad they are doing better now for sure though.
Oh I think you are right, but it’s something that struck me as possible considering how things have developed since pre-E3.
All this tells me is that more PC ports are coming, and they wanted a studio to make them instead of wasting the time and resources of the native studios.
PlayStation about to lose more exclusives… lol.
Have to also keep in mind it’s a bit harder for PS studios to port games because they built for two different APIs compared to XGS who use DX12 across PC and Xbox.
Haha. If Xbox fans most prominent skill is waiting™, PlayStation fans is mental gymnastics…
Got a nice trifecta of responses from the other place.
Got people telling me that this acquisition wasnt random as if Hermen didnt say 2 days ago they mainly acquire studios they have relationships with.
Also got some telling me that Jim Ryan does believe in generation because he is supporting the ps4 as if thats what he originally meant by those quotes.
Sony will never port day 1 to PC because its not their business.
Why did I even bother to post over there? Jesus.
Lol, I was lurking there watching that in real time, all I could think was:
“Stupid bastard about to get eaten alive”.
Ill just stick to posting here and debating Hindle.
You can debate with Hindle, he doesn’t have Kratos, Ellie, Joel, Spider-Man, Ratchet, Clank, Rivit, or Aloy in his Profile Pic.
Saw more delusion there in 10 minutes and thats just enough.
I think Satya’s direct declaration regarding all in gaming was certainly a message to platforms and publishers. But I give credit for MS for being less hypocrites than Sony.
Hermen Hulst is from the Netherlands. Here we can see the organic connection
