Xbox Acquisition |OT| - So We’re Back to Making Lists, Huh?

Starting many new studios? No, I don’t think that would be cheaper. And would waste a lot of time. And would potentially burn any bridges with AT&T.

It would be a lot cheaper than $4 billion, man :stuck_out_tongue:

They are doing this with The Initiative.

“buy cdpr” lol

So there’s nothing new about an acquisition?

Btw, if they really make the games of bethesda exclusives, might be interesting to get some small studios in some countries that can make interesting things, like mundfish in Russia.

Microsoft doesn’t have to offer what they’re asking for, that’s where negotiations come in. The Initiative is one studio, we’re talking about 6. Plus, you lose the reputation and goodwill these studios come with. Not worth it.

One thing is clear: Wolfenstein 3, Starfield and Arkane Austin’s new IP are all launching in either 2021 or 2022 so that’s good.

No, we’re all just spinning our wheels here, having fun speculating and arm-chair business-dealing with Microsoft’s wallet!

It’s a bad thing for us that want a Poland studio for XGS.

I mean, it’s not like they could half that price. Even if they somehow snagged WB Games for 3 billion, you can sign 23 Neymars at that price – imagine how many developers, that would cost only monthly wages :stuck_out_tongue:

WB had exclusive licensing as part of their ask. So yeah, you absolutely can hack that down if you exclude that, because then they can shop their IP to Sony, EA, Ubisoft, Activision, 2K, etc. It’s in their best interests

It’s not as simple as hiring devs, as I said. There’s also a new building… and new equipment… and it’s gonna take a lot more time, plus you don’t take reputation of those studios with you. And you piss off At&T. AND you don’t get to make a deal to put their studios’ past work into Game Pass.

Not worth it.

Excellent game. One of my favourite games of 2017 and didn’t even anticipated before release

Keep an eye on Arkane one of the best studios out there MS managed to get.

Arkane Austin and Arkan Lyon are both great at what they do.

The Bethesda acquisition was indeed a nuclear megaton industry shaking reveal.

And I agree that acquiring Capcom could be a great idea.

May be worth it for Microsoft to actually move forward with Techland and start hiring away CD Projekt Red devs. From the look of their glass door everyone is saying they have great coworkers but don’t get treated great or have even decent salaries. Microsoft could pry devs away easy.

Isnt cd red one of the best paying polish employer?

Oh no, the $ 4.5 billion was WITHOUT the licensed stuff. Only the proprietary IPs like Mortal Kombat and stuff were included. That’s why it was not that great of a deal – I mean, Rocksteady without the Batman IP would not generate that same buzz, the same goes for TT without LEGO.

:man_shrugging: But they complain about it a lot on indeed and glassdoor

Techland don’t look like a greatplace to work or a studio with a great management imo

Where is Dying Light 2 ?

I do not believe that’s true. Yes, the buyer would not own these things, but they would license them exclusively.

I would like to see then aquire Larian and give them unlimited budget…

…but being more realistic Phil already said that ms need more family type games

That makes Sega seems very likely imo, even with all the Sammy baggage… WB has the Lego games from TT to

However i could see MS looking at even bigger kid games, such as the Roblox devs - not exciting for us… but if you want kids to play, you need content for well, kids
