Rngesus37 thought it was clever amd 37 is my favorite number
Several new people have joined the community so I am bumping this thread again.
I think itâs probably self-explanatory but my gamertag: dreamcast, comes from my love of Segaâs console and itâs spiritual successor the original Xbox.
Iâve had the tag since the beta days and it ainât going anywhere.
My gamer tag is Hurting Bomb.
This came about after i watched Rocky Balboa (2006 film)âŚin the training montage i loved the speech where Duke says âlets starting building some hurting bombsâ.
Mine is OhhEldenRing because I needed something new, original and would stick in your memories
Mines quite an exciting story. So I took my name, and then took the year I was born and then ⌠Put them together.
Kind of regret not having a cooler one to be honest.
I forgot about this but dude, you never did explain what that Dave joke meant?!
Just curious because it went straight over my head.
@PETE1985 you & me see these things in the same way
Steve, I merely named another common name i. e. Dave. .
Sorry I was not trying to be clever or anything.
I hope that clears it up.
Oh right
Donât worry about it, I wasnât annoyed or anything. I just thought it was a reference to some joke that I didnât understand & I was curious.
Was a huge Sega and Virtua Fighter fan back in the day. Kage Maru is one of my favorite characters in Virtua Fighter, so I used Kage Maru for most of my online names since playing Sega Saturn online. If Kage Maru is taken, I tend to use Kage Maru_10G, similar to my PSN tag. The 10G references Kage Maru being the tenth generation Hagakure ninja.
Sad fact is that my original gamertag wasnât Kage Maru when I signed up for Xbox Live in 2002. Kage Maru was taken, and so was any of the variants I tried to use, so in a rush of frustration, I picked Glimmerman, since the DVD was on top of a stack sitting right in front of me. I wanted to quickly get online and definitely paid the price picking a stupid name. Thankfully my Live account wouldnât migrate to my 360 on launch day for some reason, so the Xbox rep working with me, allowed me to set up a new account where I was able to grab a Kage name in the form of LoS Kage Maru. The LoS stood for Legion of Shadows, which was the name of a paintball team I was on as we were all fans of Shadowman. Once we got the option to change our name, I then changed it to Kage Maru and have kept it ever since.
As a huge Wayneâs World fan, Iâm ashamed I never realized the connection
When I wasâŚprobably a freshman in high school, but it might have been the upper years of middle school I had a âfriendâ (he was my older brotherâs friend, but I often tagged along when my brother hung out with his friends so they all became my friends as well) that went by the name of WyldChyld989 on the internet back when AOL was still popular (I think Wyld Chyld was the name of a band he liked, and 989 was from 989 Studios). I thought he was the coolest person and I wanted to be just like him so obviously the best way to do that was to steal the second half of his name, not thinking anything of it.
25+ years later Iâm still using it as my username everywhere on the internet and he still occasionally brings up that I stole it from him (which I do not deny).
I should have replied. Apologies.
I love this thread. I find the stories fascinating.
I assumed @Harm0nica was referencing side character âSteve Daveâ from Clerks, Mallrats etc, hence my gif.
YOUâRE GLIMMERMAN!?!?!
Youâre the one we spent all night playing strip Uno with? Nice boxers I meant to say.
I kinda want to change mine, Iâm annoyed Lamptramp isnt allowed, as I kinda like being a lamptramp now. Id like to incorporate Cerys as well, but cant think how. Any Ideas gratefully received.
So long ago on a forum dedicated to Fire Pro Wrestling games I chose a name based on a street. I ended up doing a lot of technical assistance on the site or itâs side projects, and everyone already shortened my name down to âC-Driveâ anyways. I liked that a lot more for the tech side of things and various reasons and just moved over to using it directly.
On twitter & Xbox accounts, and other places, they donât allow a dash in usernames (and Iâm not a fan of underscores even if available), so I replace the dash with an âxâ.
Lots of new people on the Forums so it is time to bump this again.
AbortRetryFail
Itâs an old MSDOS error.
Ghandii
All started back in CounterStrike days, I just thought it would be funny for people to be killed by Ghandi. Had to add additional i when registering on the 360.
Did have a funny moment in Destiny 1 where I saw Ghandi across the plains in the cosmodrome. I wavedâŚhe waved back and we went on our separate ways.
OK so thanks for the bump I guess @Harm0nica . It happened.
The name I had since oh I donât know. I got my first computer around the time of my first film so that was 2003 at leats that long, probably longer.
Gone, In the end I couldnt use Lamptramp. I guess since in context âTrampâ is used as a sexist term, but I rather liked owning it, so like above I did have a think and wanting this time to use my actual name as well I settled on Cerysnetics.
A portmantua of Cerys and Cybernetics. I love Cyberpunk and Steampunk and the âNeticsâ seened to match a Steampunk version. Most importantly though it was free anywhere I would like to use it, and for Xbox came without numbers.
So thats how I got to play in the thread twice.
ummmm I like Bacon hence the Bacon Life
