I saw Klobrille post about this and made me wonder what happened.
Another casualty of the pending ABK deal ?

I reckon that what was originally meant to be a slam dunk announcement has become an intricate publisher focused discussion. We know the tech is there for it - so it must be another reason.
I don’t imagine ABK could be stopping it really.
The press release said it was their ‘intent’ to roll it out by the end of this year.
Technically there is still time, but more likely they hit one or two snags with licensing, but they didn’t make a firm committal it will hit this year.
I think if the regulators are worried about them in cloud gaming then holding that back is likely.
Yeah, its probably been delayed again.
Pretty sure we were suppose to get this back in 2020, then it got re-announced with a 2022 time frame.
Hopefully we’ll get it next year.
Maybe them pumping the brakes on Keystone delayed their plans?
Honestly it could be any number of things
I wouldn’t really put anything into timelines for something like this because they’re gonna have to line up all the publishers to get on board, I’m not sure they’ll do it if some don’t want to join in and allow it as it might casue confusion why X title isn’t allowed but Y is.
I don’t think this is as simple as people imagine. It’s not a technical challenge, it’s a business and licensing one. Xbox has to get permission to play and stream all these games from its own servers instead of the user’s console. It’s similar to the issues with BC where a game may be technically feasible but Xbox still has to get permission from the rights holder to do it.
Sometimes I see a thread and start mentally preparing a reply but, by the time I’ve caught up, I see that SheepDip has already made my points better than I could have.
Don’t know about Cloud but im guessing the Ubisoft+ subscription service being separate has either been scrapped or Ubisoft is waiting for a major release. Maybe Skull & Bones in March but Assassin’s Creed Mirage in the Fall 2023 is probably more likely. Just have to wait and see.
And yes, I do want Ubisoft+ available as a separate subscription service so I can play their games and DLC/expansions day one via the service as any kind of vault does nothing for me personally seeing as how im the Ubi guy and played them already.
Yeah, I would be interested in getting a Ubi service with new games and DLC, I own everything else.
/Also Ubi-fan
I would think they could start with Skull & Bones but like Rainbow Six Extraction, I see this going on Game Pass day one which would make more sense since the install base is 30m+ by the time it releases.
We’re forever Ubi brothers Mort!!! lol
Skull & Bones for Game Pass would be great. I think that is one of those games where everyone is catious af. Might need a GP boost.
Ubiiiii!
Agreed. We’ll see what happens.
S&B has looked booty from day 1
GP isn’t gonna save it
