What are your predictions for Xbox 2021?

Yep because they can’t stand it when one of Sony’s competitors are getting positive press like sometimes i think they want sony to have a monopoly just because of the nostalgia the playstation brand has

Personally I want xbox to keep two events in 2021 one after the Bethesda deal to give us some info and show off the games for first half 2021 and then a summer event that shows off second half 2021 games and teasers for 2022

This i can see happening

I really think there will be two shows. The first show though imo will be bigger. They are launching on over a billion devices this spring. I think that means they’ll be dropping as big of news as they can to make sure they are a major talking point ahead of the launch. This is where I can see them announcing Ubisoft +. It’s also where I can see them unveiling Starfield and a few studio acquisitions (especially if it’s Sega or WB or Bungie).

I suspect 4:

One in March (an XO type event), E3/Summer Ganes Fest, Quake Con and Game Awards.

I predict a big year for Age of Empires:

Age of Empires 4 release, Age of Empires on console roadmap, Age of Empires 2 Definitive Edition DLC, and Age of Mythology Definitive Edition announcement

I would Say:

AOE 4 2022 (it’s already confirmed for this year) AOE 2 DLC Will be available next month AOMDE announcement RON2 announcement

But yes It Will be a Great year for AOE series

When was Age 4 confirmed for 2022?

The latest. Don’t think I’ve seen 2022.

I haven’t seen a firm release date for any XGS games outside of the Age 2 DLC.

A couple more predictions, Xbox Gamepass will have 60 million subscribers by the end of 2021.

Xbox will spend at least 6 billion on new acquisitions this year in addition to the Zenimax purchase.

I think a realistic goal would be 35-40 million Game pass subs.

Spending is partly dependent on what becomes available, maybe if WB is up for sale they’d go for it. If not I won’t be surprised if 2021 is a quieter year when it comes to acquiring studios. For a billion they can easily acquire 4-5 smaller studios.

I dunno if I’ve commented on this topic, apologies if I have. My predictions, nothing too far out there imo:

-Some sort of Banjo-Kazooie game. A sequel, remake/remaster, or something completely different that uses the IP but isn’t a third person collectathon.

-Starfield at year end. Xbox/PC, not Playstation.

-Halo Infinite around the anniversary.

-Another…dumb partnership or two akin to Cyberpunk or some of the others they made this past gen. They haven’t really showed an ability to get the marketing for the “winners” and Sony has done very well in this regard.

-Two studios added. If I had to guess, Asobo and another out of left field that we weren’t expecting at all.

-No Forza this year. Bummer.

-A game in the “game show” category. Basically, 1 vs. 100 in nature.

-FF14 finally releases. Finally. Best news.

I think Satya is talking with companies right now and s gamepass is equal weight in him compensation as all the surface product, I believe he will push hard to acquire companies and I’m taking big names.

I also think they will be making huge moves when they launch gamepass on a billion devices. They will market the heck out of it, probably do partnerships and make major adds to gamepass.

Unless it comes from Xbox, that’s not confirmed.

35 million XGP subs by the end of 2021. Ridiculous I know.

Xcloud coming to iPhones makes a large enough impact in the Japanese market that Xbox finally attempts another push into the market.

Starfield releases but the push back from it being an xbox exclusive keeps its meta critic score under what it should be as journalists use their review scores to make a statement. Its a GOTY quality game but score are low 80s due the politics of it all.

Xbox doesn’t acquire or form any E rated game studios and continues to miss this boat.

Sea of Thieves still continues to be controversial but continues to grow and slowly replaces gears in the BIG 3 xbox marketing.

It’s kinda hard to predict something. If Bethesda games become exclusive, I can predict an impressive showcase of first party software. If for some dumbass reason they keep publishing beth games outside of Xbox and PC, then predicting a strong first party lineup becomes hard. I do believe they will acquire some studios, probably Bloober, Asobo and fuck it, something wild like a studio from Japan.

I have a feeling MS will acquire at least one of Sega, Asobo, Bloober in 2021

  • Sega rumors where loud last year about a huge partnership with MS, almost all studios from Sega are working with Xbox of some kind.

  • Atlas - All Yakuza games are on Gamepass

  • Relic - working on Age Of Empire 4

  • CA - worked on Halo Wars 2 and has Alien Iso on Gamepass

  • Sports interactive - Made a Xbox version of Football Manager 21 while skipping PS.

  • Bloober studio entered into merger and acquisition talks last year, narrowing down to six contenders who will be taking part in a second round of talkings, MS has been Bloober’s best partner recently and Gamepass is the perfect platform for their games.

  • Asobo - I don’t need to explain why MS needs to acquire them, Satya Nadella said “We’ll always look for places where there is that commonality of purpose, mission and culture,” after the Bethesda acquisition, Asobo works with Xbox, Azure and Hololens.
