I definitely remember getting mad at the last level in Halo my first time or two through, but now I can basically thread everything without crashing at all. You get used to the warthog but if you aren’t already used to it, agreed it’s very hard to drive.
Also the weapons change a bit between games, the pistol in 1 is definitely more useful than the AR most of the time though. I think most of the games that have the battle rifle - it’s better than the AR. Also plasma stuff takes out shields better, so you’ll sometimes hear of a noob combo which is a charged plasma pistol shot followed by a pistol / br headshot, but a plasma rifle can also be helpful at taking down shields fairly quickly and then follow it up with a human weapon.
i remember having lots of problem with the warthog at first, you are not alone. But now i like it. It has different handling than other games, but you can get used to it.
For the weapons: just try out different stuff. Halo is more of a sandbox than other shooters. I love the needler and its pink explosions. I take it if its laying around and discard it when its empty and something else comes up.
I started Mafia I last week and i’m really liking it. It plays in the 1930s a time period rarely explored in gaming. Good story and characters, good missions, nice atmosphere. Before that i only played Mafia II on 360 which was good and this seems to be shaping up even better.
and @peter42O dont forget the other two main weapons you have in Halo: grenades and melee. Halo 2 has the awesome energy sword, try it out!
if you keep these things in mind Halo 2 becomes a cakewalk even on Legendary, just have a look:
I definitely use grenades. I do wish they had an aiming arc though as they never go as far as I would like them to go. Yeah, using the sword with the Orbitor was pretty cool.
P.S. - Mafia remake is freaking great!!! Hope you enjoy it!!
Completed the Halo 2 campaign. Great game. 8.0/10 for me. Same issues as the first game for me. Already playing Halo 3 and on the 5th mission but probably won’t get back to playing it until Saturday as im working the next two days.
Just completed the Halo 3 campaign. Another 8.0/10. Great game but through the first three Halo games, there’s so many issues I have with them. lol
This is why I don’t like to go back to playing old games and even more so if I played and completed the most recent game in the franchise. Thus far, Halo Infinite campaign which I loved for the most part blows away the first three Halo games for me.
On to Halo 3: ODST.
EDIT: Completed ODST. Good 7.0/10 game. Didn’t enjoy it as much as the first three games but still good. I was happy that they added way points and a map.
Currently on the 8th mission in Halo Reach. Will wrap it up Tuesday but man, it’s definitely the best game of the five old games that I have played. ODST added way points and a map which was great and while Reach doesn’t have a map, it does way points which makes me happy but even more so, they finally added sprinting. Granted, it’s an ability that can be swapped for other abilities and is on a cool down but very pleased it’s in the series finally. There’s space ship combat (and I think the mission im on is another space ship combat mission) and a jet pack ability. This game is freaking awesome. Enjoying it more than the previous four games. Looking like a 9.0/10 for me!!
Haha. Nah, I’ll stick with the sprinting (fuck yeah!!) and the jet pack (hell yeah!!). lol
And multi-player? Hahahaha. I will never ever play a game in multi-player or co-op.
That sucks but we’ll see. I know Halo 4 is said to look awesome so have to wait and see. Will probably start it Tuesday or Thursday so will definitely post my impressions of it.
Yeah, this game is freaking great!! I know a lot would probably disagree but out the 5 Halo games developed by Bungie, it’s their last that in my opinion is their best.
Below was on sale, so I nabbed it. This was one of the games that sold me on the Xbox One. I absolutely did not vibe with it when it launched into Game Pass. Since then, they apparently added an explore mode. I’m not too deep in, but man, its atmosphere is on another level. Hoping this scratches that Tunic itch.
Still on Mafia DE. I know this will end badly, I should have executed Frank.
I had a hard time in the mission where you have to shoot the armored car. Was a bit stupid. Lots of retries. On the other hand the next few were all smooth sailing (almost literally in one!). The best was shooting down Don Morello, chasing and finally ending him.
Completed Halo Reach. What a fucking awesome game!! Excellent 9.0/10. The only true issue I had was the difficulty spike as you progress through the game and enemies especially the heavily armored enemies taking a billion shots to kill regardless of the gun I used.
And here’s something I didn’t even know - Reach was a prequel to the first game. Didn’t know this until when you get Cortana. I was like, holy shit!!! I like how the epilogue shows you the intro of Halo CE where Reyes is hoping they lost the Covenant but didn’t.
Anyway, loved the missions, environments, sprinting made me so happy, jet pack was cool, space ship combat was great and just overall, loved Reach.
Overall for me -
Halo CE - 8.0/10 (great ending sequence was the Warthog still controls like shit through five games, lol)
Halo 2 - 8.5/10 (the best of the first three games, four if you include ODST)
Halo 3 - 8.0/10 (didn’t like the gravemind at all)
Halo 3: ODST - 7.0/10 (didn’t care much for this game in general)
Halo Reach - 9.0/10 (best fucking Halo game from Bungie in my opinion even though it’s based on playing them all in 2024 as opposed to back then which obviously changes a lot in regards to how you look at games but just in general, loved and fully enjoyed Reach)
Side note - over all five games, voice acting was great for the most part and music is top tier. Love the main theme.
Will be starting Halo 4 from 343 Industries in about 20 minutes. Let me see what they did back then.
Just wanted to say that im one mission into Halo 4 and just remembered, two negatives I had in all of the other games - when you go to the next mission, they take away your weapons and give you weapons for that particular mission which im not a fan of and the voiced audio is fucking low. Had to lower sound effects and music from 50/100 in the previous five games to 20/100 and increase my TV volume from 10 to 20.
As for Halo 4 itself, thus far, im enjoying it and yeah, it’s super early, like one mission in early but I love starting where Halo 3 left off and having a few action run sequences to basically kick off the game. Too soon to tell but don’t be surprised if I personally enjoy the 343 games more than Bungie’s.
Finished Mafia I. Wow. The last 3 missions were real nailbiters.
I only played Mafia II on 360 before and i liked it really well. Dont know why it took me so long to play the first one. But it was worth it. Easily one of the best gangster games ever made. I like how they dont do a parody like GTA and instead play it straight. Real humans, real drama.
As i said before car handling is good and its real fun driving all these old cars. I also liked how the cops dont get too much in the way like in other open world games where they ruin the fun (looking at you NfS Unbound). The gameplay and mission design is pretty varied and even the stealth sections make sense and are implemented well. Only issue i had was some buggy achievements. And I was a bit disappointed about the zeppelins, they are flying in the air but i had hoped there would be a mission on one of them.
Everybody should play this. The trilogy is on sale this week for less than 10 bucks. What is stopping you?
My problem with Halo 4 (and one of my problems with Halo 5) is that the Prometheans are really not fun. (Well and Halo 4 has tons of latency even st 60 fps). Will be interested ti see if you agree. They didnt actually add good enemies or weapons to the sandbox till Infinite imo.
