Video Games are cool. But you know whats better than playing games? Watching trailers that may or may not actually represent the game. I love trailers and I thought it would be fun to discuss the best trailers of all time. I will post some of mine in no order below. Let me know if you agree with what I post and then post your own!
God the ODST one still gives me chills. A movie/show based on ODSTs and their training/missions would be awesome!
This trailer blew me away that E3. The capture mechanic was a huge twist no one saw happening.

This one is one of my favorite trailers just because of the sense of scale and wonder it has. It captures a sense of almost spirituality and resonance with nature and the environment that we hopefully see show up a bit in the final game.
After the cancelation of Silent Hills, I was sad to see a Hideo Kojima, Norman Reedus and Guillermo del Toro project cancelled, but this trailer coming out is probably the most intrigued and confused I’ve ever been in my whole life, and almost nothing comes close. Although the final game wasnt exactly how I expected, this trailer has a special place in my heart.
The way the music is played backwards and just the overall sinister feel gets me so so excited for the direction this game is going in. Next to Halo, Zelda is one of my most favorite franchises and I adored Breath of the Wild, so this trailer made me so happy.
I also quite enjoy this trailer for Spider-Man: Miles Morales. I just finished Spider-Man PS4 and all of its DLC (some of the most fun I’ve ever had in a game) and watching the Sony presentation and seeing this was such a great feeling, the fact that they used a song that I already know and love, combined with the fact that Miles is going to be front and center has me unbelievably excited! (it’s probably gonna be a while till I can play it since I’m gonna be going with a Series X at launch because of the backwards compatibility and ecosystem and definitely can’t afford both consoles at launch)
If I think harder, I’d probably be able to come up with more, but these come to mind!
Gears of War’s mad world is easily the most influential. Every video game has done the sad moody cover of a popular pop song thing by now and it’s still going on. I don’t think any gaming trailers have come close to that since.
Ok just watching these 2 trailers again just gives me chills the official E3 trailer with that music is fucking nuts, again gives me massive chills. Sad no one posted these before me haha they’re so epic.
Forza 6’s commercial was nice. The one paying homage to the racing genre, from atari’s Gran Trak to RC Pro to Pole Position to Chase HQ to Ridge Racer etc

Such a good soundtrack and I was getting hype about the snake announcement at the end.
The Witcher 2 Leto trailer was pretty sweet as well.
Remember back in the day, how awesome the Brink CG trailer was and how that single handedly got me to preorder that game. Naturally I regretted preordering when the game finally arrived, to this day that game remains the only title Ive traded into a game store, they offered me £2.50 yet I didnt care as long as i never saw it again
But the trailer still holds up today 10 years later
