Video Game Market Analysis Thread

Looking at these figures, it’s easy to see how Sony can claim they’d not be able to compete without Call of Duty marketing rights.

Yep same in Virginia. I saw PS5’s multiple times now but have yet to see a series x here. I can only guess that Xbox is holding consoles back for the Starfield release

The plan is to sell games on pc :skull:

The one note I got from this is how much these fans really, really, REALLY, hate Hi-Fi Rush. Did it swing the guitar at their mom or something?

Xbox continues to repeat that MAUs and Game Pass growth are their two most important metrics and yet people constantly obsess over NPD charts like Xbox didn’t move away from that years ago.

It’s going to be a long gen for Xbox if that’s their strategy lol.

The only people who obsess over these things are console warriors who let’s face it were very quiet until now. The fact that MS have struggled to produce series x consoles is just ignored. Sony have lower numbers and every post is about ‘supply constraint’ when its Xbox’s turn its ‘Xbox is finished’ nonsense.

People were so easy to say cable is dead yet can’t fathom this gaming new way of growth.

MAUs of the XBOX ecosystem was higher than the PlayStation in the previous quarter, every quarter more people are using XCLOUD, Game Pass continues to grow, and I believe that the 30 million subscribers have already been reached, but not reported so as not to give room for argument for regulators. I understand the concern about PlayStation sales and possible money hats, but also other metrics that are very important to Microsoft cannot be ignored.

This Minecraft Legends trailer has over 10 million views. I could see this being something that will get casuals to buy up those series S consoles so they can play it on Game Pass. but MS really needs to put that “Play Minecraft legends and over 100 games on Game Pass” tag at the end.

I don’t think MS has put out any new Game Pass commercials or even made a Hi-Fi Rush commercial. or atleast I haven’t seen any when I watch tv. its a great game they should let more peopleknow about it

People just don’t view Minecraft as an Xbox thing.

It Minecraft, you don’t have to worry about marketing Minecraft lol. Other than GTA… It is the most recognizable game of all time.

I know that. i still feel like casuals dont know what Gamepass is yet, or atleast the ones I talk to. That is why i am saying associate this game with Game Pass to bring more attention to the service.

What more do they need to do? It said gamepass at the end of that trailer. Minecraft are on everything. It does not matter to MS if someone plays it on anything else, they still get paid in the end.

Just have the play it Day 1 with Gamepass image at the end like they do for all their big first party games. like they did here for Halo infinite. but at the bottom instead of showing Xbox/Cloud/PC it will say all the other platforms for the game Switich/PC,/Xbox/PS etc for Minecraft Legends.

Here in Greece January was probably the worst month for SX availability since the first months after launch, the FH5 bundle is available only a few days and not on most stores/sites too. Also December and January was the first time I saw PS5s in person in some stores so Sony really pushed for availability during the holiday season.

All I know is that from friends and people from work quite a lot of people that had PS4 consoles and never owned an Xbox last gen now have Series S and X consoles and are pretty much all Game Pass subscribers. That doesn’t mean that the PS5 isn’t a product with very high demand here but for such a Playstation focused country Xbox must be selling much much better than last generation.

i feel it’s a bit tricky because I still feel there’s some explaining to do when there’s a big gap in revenue due to gamepass. Lets take Starfield for example and lets say its as big or bigger than Fallout 4. Then that means due to gamepass they may have lost over $400million in revenue due to being on service day one rather than being on service months later.

Anyways, I don’t know the math of it, but I do feel there needs to be a decent balance between how much each person is spending while on gamepass. I do feel its alarming if people just sub to service and aren’t buying a game or 2 because it means these subscribers are not that valuable to MS
