We have to remember we are most likely not to see MS titles in there due to their inclusion in Gamepass. So how much of an achievement is it for others and how are we supposed to compare considering this?

It’s sad but kinda hilarious that this basic fact needs clarification.

There’s a segment of gamers that live in a realm where Playstation’s quality is really a conspiracy.

NPD doesn’t count bundles. You Lost an opportunity to not be embarrassed but here we are

By player counts? :man_shrugging:

But then you’ll probably always have people saying it doesn’t count as much since it costs you 1$ to play Starfield vs 80$ to play GOW, so the barrier of entry should normally favor one more than the other and the revenue cannot be calculated the same way.

Also, does NPD count digital sales? Surprised Nintendo games aren’t higher.

Not everyone reports data to NPD, hence the disclaimers around all Nintendo titles.

I agree with your first point but cmon no need to be rude to him.

He probably didn’t know how the NDP operated.

Hopefully this puts the bundle conspiracy to bed though lol.

Sales numbers are serious business!

No Xbox 1st party game in sight, it seem Halo and Forza especially Halo have fallen off a cliff, that why it is so important for MS to get COD. No longer can Halo, Forza, Gears be counted on to perform with the big hitters anymore.

Edit: Forgot about the 2022 part. Halo and Forza release in 2021. Points still stand as not many original Xbox IP make these kind of yearly top seller list anymore.

halo has already fallen off tho infinite wasnt that spectacular tbh

Gamepass makes sure MS’s games won’t appear on best selling lists anymore though, which is why I don’t think being on the top 10 lost isn’t as significant anymore when it comes to judging a games success. If Sony put Horizon and GoW on PS+ premium I’m pretty sure their sales numbers would fall off a cliff as well.

I don’t think that should be the expectation anymore.

Xbox is playing by its own set of rules on what they define is successful or not.

Yep.

There’s also the fact that a lot of Microsoft games have a live service component with their online services. While Halo Infinite didn’t sell as well as much as people may have wanted it to, in the long run like it will make Microsoft a lot of money thanks to the seasons and constant updates the game will get and people willing to pay for the microtransactions.

it will be way too late

No it won’t, Destiny 2 was sputtering out the gate worse than Halo was when it launch, its first expansion was met with disappointment by its community and it turned itself around. Fortnite wasn’t a success as soon as it pivot to BR, it took multiple seasons before they got it right. Sea of Thieves started out with a bad rep from the press now it has its own community and doing its own seasons and it’s a massive success for rare.

What’s happening with Halo Infinite is nothing new, and it will continue to happen with pretty much every live service game in the future.

doesnt mean it will happen the same for halo

It would be awesome if this could turn out to be true but I think the ship has sailed.

I think if you’re an exclusive console shooter in today’s climate, you’re all but sealing your fate as a competitor in the market place. It’ll have it’s ebbs and flows as each season drops but I think the current baseline right now is basically where it’ll remain.

The only hope the MP has is basically if they nail new BR mode.

over 160 million dollars for Callisto Protocol. Striking Distance fleeced Krafton, holy shit :+1:

According to Krafton’s business report and quarterly report, the company paid about 196 billion won, including 5.4 billion won in 2020, 77 billion won in 2021, and 113.6 billion won from January to September last year, to the US-based subsidiary ‘Striking Distance Studio’ (SDS), a developer of Callisto Protocol.

I could not believe this so I read Kraftons latest quarterly financial report.

That can be true and false. I believe even if COD is on gamepass day 1 it would still top the charts. That is how massive COD really is, it’s why Xbox will fight till the end of days to get COD.
