Video Game Market Analysis Thread

He’s responded to VGchartz posts before in the same way and VGchartz is very unreliable.

Is Media Create accounting for both consoles? Or only one of them? Because that number looks like how each console has sold separately in Famitsu’s reporting of them.

They are selling all of their stock so you’d think it would be easier to keep track

And now, speaking of Famitsu…

Made in Abyss sold better than TLOU… Yeah, Japan isn’t really into the sad dad games.

Well at least a Sony studio made an appearance in the top 10. That does not happen very often.

It’s more likely that Famitsu has access to more data regarding Xbox console sales than them over counting by such a large number.

I thought that too, but I think the same guy added that the X and S are in the 70,000 range for each of them.

But where is this discrepancy coming from? Where are Famitsu getting there numbers from that they double the amount that Media Create has?

Also from the rest of the discussions going on it seems that Famitsu gets tgere numbers from all major retailers in Japan outside of Amazon. I didn’t see a mention on who Media Create gets their numbers from, so I have to wonder if they are working with as many people as Famitsu when it comes to tracking the series consoles?

Not what is going on exactly, but Media Create and Famitsu used to be pretty close when we got both reports and apparently they aren’t significantly off currently on PS or Switch (Famitsu’s PS5 numbers are actually lower than Media Create I believe). If we assume Famitsu is tracking some place that Media Create isn’t, the real question is: What place in Japan could possibly be selling a significant number of Xboxes but not Switches or PS5s?

This news also brings to mind Xbox One numbers. What if they were greatly under-reported because they weren’t tacking this apparent source of quite a significant number of Xbox sales last gen?

Maybe. I guess at this point only Microsoft has the right numbers, and if they want to keep investing in Japan the numbers must be good enough that they think they can make decent showing in their market.

Have noticed stock stability for XSX in my country (Brazil) for the first time ever, two days straight being available.

So people downplay Xbox sales now?

With how ornery the cult has been lately, apparently.

In the morning Xbox is a monopoly, in the evening - nobody buys it :joy:

At this point, some of them are desperate and just lie about Xbox, they are scared and don’t want the Activision acquisition goes through.

No guys, Jodie didn’t make those numbers up and Media Create is not showing 301k for Xbox.

Media Create sales are here

The number Astal is claiming is Media Create is… Famitsu’s number. Yes, the threads on InstallBase are titled “Media Create” (which may have confused Astal), but as you can see below, the Media Create section is always blank, only Famitsu’s number is posted.

I’m disappointed that a fanboy like Astal’s word was automatically taken as the truth here and doubly disappointed that it involved calling out someone (a good member of InstallBase even) for something they did not do (“posting fake sales”)

So is it only the xbox numbers that have a big difference between Media Create and Famitsu?

Seems odd if thats the case, could understand if a bunch were inaccurate but only xbox?

and is there a reason Install Base uses famitsu’s numbers and not media creates?

What I don’t even understand is why suddenly Media Create is so important ? Like I have never even heard of them before, and suddenly everything is wrong ?

And before people are taking it the wrong way and say I insult people, I’m just genuinely curious about it. I’ve literally never heard of them before, and now it is all that matters almost. That’s why I want to know.
