Nope, but it shouldn’t be placed 3rd after major price cut . It shows interest isn’t strong imo or Microsoft didn’t supply enough units
Guy, you made it sound like it’s at 10th place in a 7 participants show. Price cut or not, it’s still expected. I would understand if it’s 4th place, but relax.
Not really a yikes, it was pretty expected
Nintendo always does very well in December and the PS5 is the PS5, it’s the default console, it doesn’t need to do anything and it will still sell
Don’t let the news of Xbox coming in last place again distract you from the real big news of the day.
A single player game finally dethroning COD for the first time in 10+ years ! Congrats to the devs that worked on Hogwarts Legacy.
True, yikes is the wrong word , but expected better
All it took was a 9 month lead, I wonder when/if MW3 will surpass it this year
Fair, I’ve kinda just expected Xbox place in the hardware market at least for this gen so my expectations are very low anyway lol
potentially, we don’t know what the actual spend was on making hardware vs. selling. It COULD be bad, but WE don’t/can’t really know.
Not to discredit the game, but makes me think of Spider-Man was multiplat it would possibly dethrone cod too
Was the PS5 not on sale or something?
Probably sooner rather than later.
Seems like MW3 really under performed. Even Spider-Man 2 outsold it on the PS platform.
Hopefully MS won’t let that blatant cash grab at the expense of developers happen again now that it’s under their watch. It’ll probably be 1-2 more COD releases before we see Microsoft’s influence kick in though.
Unsure about the US , but here in Canada the PS5 wasn’t on sale
Price cuts are not designed to increase the sales revenue — they are designed to do the opposite. They increase the number of units sold instead. There was no expectation for the $350 Series X to sell twice the amount of $550 PS5 , and surpass Sony in sales revenue.
Well it was originally doing to be a DLC so it would have had a really, really bad performance compared to what it did do, the fact they still came in second after rushing that out the door shows the power of the brand
CoD24 sounds like it’s had more time in the oven than many other CoD’s and it back to Black Ops so I can see it performing very well, although it might be the first to be on GP so that will hit it’s sales pretty hard
“well it was supposed to be a dlc anyways” excuse probably isn’t flying internally lol.
I believe it was on sale in the UK ? I think some bundles were on sale too in the US.
I didn’t see any in Canada either though.
I mean if they were planning on releasing just a dlc they would have been expecting their revenue to be absolutely terrible for that year which is why they pivoted to the full game release
If they expected MW3 to perform as well as 2 despite what they were rushing out then that’s on them but I doubt they did, I imagine MW3 was a case of, lets get something retail out so we can salvage some decent revenue this year at least as a MW2 DLC would have done horribly
I think they are very satisfied with the result all things considered, yes.
Oh I agree but I just don’t think they view it as, “oh well this was supposed to be a DLC anyways”.
This would be a pretty bad situation for them if Microsoft didn’t purchase them.
Oh yea for sure, Acti stocks wouldn’t be looking too pretty id imagine
It’s not all @BadNews

Also, their best month ever. YIKES!
