Of course Xbox isn’t compelling for people in Japan, they’re currently uncompelling in their home turf due to the lack of big games nevermind Japan
Starfield will hopefully start bringing the cadence and quality they need

i dont think its gonna help at all they need exclusive japanese software which is something they r lacking alot
We know Xbox is generally more than 70% digital and I don’t think that would be any different in Japan as Microsoft does push digital more often. But I think having a hand held Series S, would help Xbox boost their console sales in Japan, as long as it’s actually available to buy😭.
Problem with a Series S handheld is having to aim for a 3rd profile when developing their games as it’s a new target to hit, unless they can magically make it run at the same settings as the Series S version but in portable mode which I doubt. Unless MS would have a way to magically force all games to 720p and 30/40fps or something like that to lower power consumption and make the handheld last a decent amount of hours on battery.
Would definitely be nice to have though, I’d be first in line to get my hands on it!
Damn, GTA V sold more than the entire Zelda franchise combined.
Crazy right ?
It has more total sales than Halo and Uncharted series combined.
Seems like there’s a lot of potential in Europe. Also, I think Bethesda games sold well in that region, so it should be interesting to see how console sales perform next quarter
In an interview with Famitsu (translated via ResetEra), Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) CEO Jim Ryan shot down the idea of PlayStation 5 (PS5) exclusive games also launching on PC from day one.
Ryan says that the primary goal of console first-party games is to build the game for the PlayStation experience. He added that overall reactions from fans have been “favorable” when games arrive a couple of years after initial release.
“We also fully understand the importance of PS5 exclusive titles,” Ryan said. “PlayStation Studios’ main responsibility is to have people enjoy the game experience using the latest PlayStation. We are increasing the number of PS5-exclusive titles and staggering the release of the PC version.
“I often have the opportunity to ask game fans for their opinions, and when I ask them about the time lag, they say that selling the PC version two or three years after the release of the PS version is accepted favorably.”

Sony is greedy. Selling PC versions is good but do it too late and you miss sales, because people do not buy old stuff. Horizon and GOW were well accepted because PC gamers wanted to send a good message. Their later output has sold less.
I think main reason why they don’t do day 1 because their main focus is PS5 and they outsource PC version of games. I do agree that a delayed release doesn’t do them any favours because PC market haven’t bought their full price PC games at launch. I feel Sony and devs that do timed release PS5 releases don’t realize FOMO plays a big part in sales and if game is out on another platform then it kills need to buy day one. I can understand skipping out on xbox, but to skip out on PC is just weird
Those zelda sales…nintendo better diclose digital sales
I think they just want to cater to the PS fanbase. Jim’s takes on PC always seem to factor in on how the hardcore PlayStation fan would feel.
Always refers to how they feel about this or being aware it might upset them. Not totally sure why he operates that way. Maybe he’s afraid of the backlash ? Or he’s just slowly easing them into a future where it comes to PC on day 1.
Feels like a half measure approach because you’re not going to build a PC base with a late releases. I feel not capitalizing on the event feel of a new release is a big no-no these days.
Possibly but hey. The PS5 is reaching heights that not even the PS2 have reached in the past year. Hard to argue with the results lol.
That’s true, you can’t deny the results, but feels with the health measure approach it could haunt them if there are issues with the GaaS PC/PS5 games
I’d be shocked if they keep the same approach with their GAAS stuff. Now that’s kind of crazy lol.
Yeah, those have to be same date, and I feel they should have some practice for simultaneous release. I think best strategy is to have simultaneous releases with their smaller titles like Returnal, Ratchet, Sackboy, Demon Souls, GaaS, etc. I think for their bigger titles they should stick with current model.

Hermen Hulst has said that live service games will come to PC day one.
God I wish Microsoft was even 50% as transparent as Sony is with Playstation in terms of data. Love looking at this type of data.
