Well, the landscape of MP is no longer the same thing as it was back then.
MP of today if it needs to be sustainable has to do certain things that developers didn’t have to back in the day. 90% of the time it means it has to be “an evolving live service” which makes no sense for Perfect Dark IMO.
It makes a lot more sense for Perfect Dark than being a one and done with zero replay value that I play once and never touch again. Being on Gamepass is another factor. PD is a historically Sp and MP game I’ve yet to see a compelling argument as to why it shouldn’t be. I have a hunch that the team working on it realizes this and looking at the way KI was brought back (especially if Ken Lobb is in any way involved with this) I’m willing to give them the benefit of the doubt.
I’m not worried at all about this game. There is so much good source material out there to draw from when it comes to making a great PD game. Years ago I came up with a pitch for a reboot, which I still have somewhere
yea its way too early to gauge any concern about the game and comes off as disingenuous looking at you MVG, Jez Corden and Parris way too early to tell the shape the game is in
Influences should be Deus Ex, immersive sims basically. Player choice and exploration being the main core. The gadgets should be used for any playstyle, stealth, action, etc. The more you use one playstyle, the better gadgets you get. Unlike other games, there should be no punishment for going all guns blazing either.
Mirrors edge style combat and movement, would suit the game, CQC, for when things get messy .
For the game world, having one hub, which is living and breathing, filled with ways to complete each objective, but not open world. Over the rooftops, under the city, in the sewers, etc, all being ways to get around. Think Prague in MD.
No conversational system. Leave it for any sequel.
Filmic ideas. For movies, I think the devs should be looking at say Mission Impossible and Kingsman as to how those films blended near future, modern day almost with the futuristic. Casino Royale for the Joanna Dark character, she’s new to the industry far from perfect
I think it was buggy and undercooked so the usual for a live service game its a great idea on paper but more often than not game launches in a rushed state
Honestly I am having a blast playing Avengers after the demo not having grabbed me before. I think part of that was due to poor performance at the time and frankly the gaming mob destroying the game at time which was partly deserved, but over the top too. This is some serious AAA goodness, and Crystal Dynamics helping out with Perfect Dark sounds incredible to me!
Okay. If BF is the only game that’s charging for MP while COD/HI is free to play and there’s no single player campaign, that’s a tough sell especially when BF releases after COD and HI is being highly praised with every play test beta or whatever it’s called.
I liked what IOI did with the Hitman trilogy, how it was always updated with new things to do. For Perfect Dark, I hope MS do the same, community events and such
