The Big ol' Xbox 3rd Party Releases Discussion Thread (HiFi, SoT, Pentiment, Grounded) (Part 2)

Phil pretty much confirmed a handheld. that was nice

Indeed, his answer for hardware in general can basically be summed up as “we are going to keep doing all the things we have always been known for (hardware and services), we are just going to sell some extra copies of games to people who have decided to play games elsewhere”

Im still not a fan of that plan but im not gonna be upset over it anymore. At the end of the day this showcased showed if you game on xbox your good you just mite not have exclusives. Some people have issue with it some wont. It would be nice if sony stopped trying to money hat everything at the same time

Not to mention, you might be waiting 1-2 years for games that may never come.

Yup, that’s the part some don’t seem to get. Even the games like Doom for example that were multiplatform were only Xbox branded on the showcase. People thinking MS has given up are going to be surprised I think. If they were as openly multiplatform as some seem to think, it’d be quite clear in the showcase, yet they don’t advertise openly, and I’m pretty sure that’s intentional.

I can only speak for myself here, but if I’m interested enough in a game, i will take time off for it.

Depending on the time of year and multiple other factors it gets more difficult to do that the less of a heads up I get.

It’s absolutely a first world problem and I’m not in anyway upset over it, but it may very well change how I play certain games (or if I even get to them this year).

Wrong thread.

In the showcase I was pretty excited when Doom didn’t have a PS5 logo - we already expected it to go to PS5, but I thought this was a sign they were backing Xbox consoles.

When SoT didn’t have a PS5 logo, I realized that it meant they weren’t displaying PS Logos on anything, even on things that definitely were going to PS or even have already.

So, I wouldn’t put much faith into that as an indication of anything.

This and Phil’s “more of our games on more platforms” is probably as much of an indicator the world will need, as long as Microsoft won’t say “Xbox has exclusives and this is what they are.”

Essentially, Xbox’s usp is Gamepass from this point on.

Going third party isn’t a bad thing but they should be clear about it.

They are. They’re clearly a platform holder, now and in future. They are clearly releasing 100% of their own games in Game Pass, on XBox and PC. They are clearly indicating that other platforms will see releases, and the likelihood is that that’s later (outside of things like Doom), and quite possibly not all - but also, quite possibly, all.

The lack of clarity comes in the ‘how many games we talking, and when’. Not the general model.

Yeah, I think you’re right, but I also think that lack of clarity is causing more damage than just coming out with it is.

I’ve said this before, but if they want to put all their games elsewhere, they could sweeten the deal for Xbox players to make the same titles more attractive on their platform. All DLC is free on Xbox, for example. Of course, that sort of meddles with the Gamepass model, so is problematic.

The “lack of clarity” is from insiders and not Xbox. They’ve been consistent with the “case by case basis” thing with only one game for PS5 yesterday making perfect sense. Without ‘leaks’ we’d have no idea otherwise.

This thread is miserable and I’m putting it back on slow mode. Do not try and drag this discussion to other topics. Let people enjoy a great show or you will be moderated. If you have an issue with this do not talk about it here, DM a moderator.

I’ve merged threads talking about this same issue together, for those feeling discombobulated.

Hellblade 2 I hope does go to PlayStation - it sucks that my partner can’t play it on PS having loved the original.

I only watched the playthrough of the first as it didn’t seem like my kind of game - yet I’m the one who gets to play the sequel, it’s a bit of an anomaly.

Games where the series already exists on other platforms are a no-brainer for me - especially as putting them elsewhere helps avoid competition watchdogs like the FTC saying “you said you didn’t want to take games from people”.

Thus they stated it is a case by case basis. Not sure why anyone is confused.

Is it just me that saw ESO yesterday with the free content and now tempted to jump in??

No need to be wilfully obtuse.

Same. I’m just apprehensive after hearing how massive the game is. Lots of content is a good thing, but I’m not sure I want to take on learning how to navigate another MMO game on top of Destiny 2 and FO76.

So sad we got the best showcase ever for MS and only good things to talk about and even more reasons to buy an Xbox, yet all some people will talk about is about interpreting parts of an interview to fit their own agenda and try to undermine everything that was show Sunday.

This is sad seriously. Those people don’t play games, they just want others to fail to make their favourite plastic box look better.

There is nothing ‘willfully obtuse’ about what I said. You made the statement “Doom and Call of Duty are multiplatform because they’re going to always been associated as multiplatform games.” If that is your statement, why not include every Xbox first party IP that has a history of being multiplatform?

Point is, every game I listed has at one point in time, been multiplatform.

  • Hellblade (XBO/PS4/PC/Switch)
  • Perfect Dark (N64/GBC/360)
  • Indiana Jones (nearly every gaming platform in history)
  • Avowed (spin-off of an IP that appeared on PS4/PC/XBO/Switch)
  • The Outer Worlds (PS4/Switch/PC/XBO)

Just to be clear. I’m more or less testing your logic. I don’t even entirely disagree with it. I just think one could ask the question I have asked. This is why ‘case-by-case’ will continue the conversation/debate.
