Phil pretty much confirmed a handheld. that was nice
Indeed, his answer for hardware in general can basically be summed up as âwe are going to keep doing all the things we have always been known for (hardware and services), we are just going to sell some extra copies of games to people who have decided to play games elsewhereâ
Im still not a fan of that plan but im not gonna be upset over it anymore. At the end of the day this showcased showed if you game on xbox your good you just mite not have exclusives. Some people have issue with it some wont. It would be nice if sony stopped trying to money hat everything at the same time
Not to mention, you might be waiting 1-2 years for games that may never come.
Yup, thatâs the part some donât seem to get. Even the games like Doom for example that were multiplatform were only Xbox branded on the showcase. People thinking MS has given up are going to be surprised I think. If they were as openly multiplatform as some seem to think, itâd be quite clear in the showcase, yet they donât advertise openly, and Iâm pretty sure thatâs intentional.
I can only speak for myself here, but if Iâm interested enough in a game, i will take time off for it.
Depending on the time of year and multiple other factors it gets more difficult to do that the less of a heads up I get.
Itâs absolutely a first world problem and Iâm not in anyway upset over it, but it may very well change how I play certain games (or if I even get to them this year).
Wrong thread.
In the showcase I was pretty excited when Doom didnât have a PS5 logo - we already expected it to go to PS5, but I thought this was a sign they were backing Xbox consoles.
When SoT didnât have a PS5 logo, I realized that it meant they werenât displaying PS Logos on anything, even on things that definitely were going to PS or even have already.
So, I wouldnât put much faith into that as an indication of anything.
This and Philâs âmore of our games on more platformsâ is probably as much of an indicator the world will need, as long as Microsoft wonât say âXbox has exclusives and this is what they are.â
Essentially, Xboxâs usp is Gamepass from this point on.
Going third party isnât a bad thing but they should be clear about it.
They are. Theyâre clearly a platform holder, now and in future. They are clearly releasing 100% of their own games in Game Pass, on XBox and PC. They are clearly indicating that other platforms will see releases, and the likelihood is that thatâs later (outside of things like Doom), and quite possibly not all - but also, quite possibly, all.
The lack of clarity comes in the âhow many games we talking, and whenâ. Not the general model.
Yeah, I think youâre right, but I also think that lack of clarity is causing more damage than just coming out with it is.
Iâve said this before, but if they want to put all their games elsewhere, they could sweeten the deal for Xbox players to make the same titles more attractive on their platform. All DLC is free on Xbox, for example. Of course, that sort of meddles with the Gamepass model, so is problematic.
The âlack of clarityâ is from insiders and not Xbox. Theyâve been consistent with the âcase by case basisâ thing with only one game for PS5 yesterday making perfect sense. Without âleaksâ weâd have no idea otherwise.
This thread is miserable and Iâm putting it back on slow mode. Do not try and drag this discussion to other topics. Let people enjoy a great show or you will be moderated. If you have an issue with this do not talk about it here, DM a moderator.
Iâve merged threads talking about this same issue together, for those feeling discombobulated.
Hellblade 2 I hope does go to PlayStation - it sucks that my partner canât play it on PS having loved the original.
I only watched the playthrough of the first as it didnât seem like my kind of game - yet Iâm the one who gets to play the sequel, itâs a bit of an anomaly.
Games where the series already exists on other platforms are a no-brainer for me - especially as putting them elsewhere helps avoid competition watchdogs like the FTC saying âyou said you didnât want to take games from peopleâ.
Thus they stated it is a case by case basis. Not sure why anyone is confused.
Is it just me that saw ESO yesterday with the free content and now tempted to jump in??
No need to be wilfully obtuse.
Same. Iâm just apprehensive after hearing how massive the game is. Lots of content is a good thing, but Iâm not sure I want to take on learning how to navigate another MMO game on top of Destiny 2 and FO76.
So sad we got the best showcase ever for MS and only good things to talk about and even more reasons to buy an Xbox, yet all some people will talk about is about interpreting parts of an interview to fit their own agenda and try to undermine everything that was show Sunday.
This is sad seriously. Those people donât play games, they just want others to fail to make their favourite plastic box look better.
There is nothing âwillfully obtuseâ about what I said. You made the statement âDoom and Call of Duty are multiplatform because theyâre going to always been associated as multiplatform games.â If that is your statement, why not include every Xbox first party IP that has a history of being multiplatform?
Point is, every game I listed has at one point in time, been multiplatform.
- Hellblade (XBO/PS4/PC/Switch)
- Perfect Dark (N64/GBC/360)
- Indiana Jones (nearly every gaming platform in history)
- Avowed (spin-off of an IP that appeared on PS4/PC/XBO/Switch)
- The Outer Worlds (PS4/Switch/PC/XBO)
Just to be clear. Iâm more or less testing your logic. I donât even entirely disagree with it. I just think one could ask the question I have asked. This is why âcase-by-caseâ will continue the conversation/debate.
